WannaBe: Absolutely 'crazy' sequences... Usc throws an INT, the defensive lineman running with the ball then gets hit and fumbles the ball into and out of end zone for touchback (no TD) Next play, Usc goes from their own 20 to N'Western's 20 (60 yards).

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/elon...

I can just hear the governor and the state of TX right now: "Y'all just keep taxing them people, CA. Just keep on taxing... HP left, Toyota long ago left SoCal for TX, and people just keep leaving.">

Argh! Those damn Libs keep coming to Idaho and now our capitol city has a damn Dem as Mayor!

Now the idjits in Boise are voting for more Cali socialism! They are too deluded/brainwashed to learn their lessons! I don't want anymore Cali idjits in Texas or Idaho or Montana or any other common sense state (read: Red State)

https://www.sfgate.com/crime/articl... >

Heh. I noticed that the decoders were more alert than the coder! They found a typo, which, when removed, facilitated the decoding.

Now, if the 'typo' was intentional, that's a different story...

https://www.latimes.com/california/...

Yep, them Donkey-Ass party are doing great.>

Ah, Liberalism! The gift that keeps on taking!

Here is the critical excerpt:

<And if California prison inmates were smart enough to swindle an estimated $400 million in state benefits, even as thousands who were thrown out of work by the pandemic still can’t get their money, shouldn’t we hire the inmates to run the agency and lock up the officials who allowed it to become a national laughingstock?>

I hope it all works out for everyone.

On an ethical/moral side of question, why are people in long term care (homes) getting shots? Are they 'essential'? Are they working to produce something that we need? Can they farm and harvest produce to feed others?>

This we see in Europe as well. As I understand it, the rationale is that these people are the most likely to die from Covid and hence this is where most lives can be saved. People below 70 with no health issues get a flu at worst, younger people sometimes do not even notice it.

As for the safety of the shot, I am reasonably convinced that there are no side effects. But there is always a risk, and this being a new vaccine, more unknown factors means a higher risk. On the other hand, as far as I know, it cannot be compared to thalidomid which is a molecule very alien to the human body and the effects of which are still not fully understood.

While the testing and approval procedures for the Covid vaccines have happened very fast the process has been much more rigorous than the original procedure for thalidomid. Indeed thalidomid has been partly responsible for this stricter control.

Scarce.

Dec-17-20  technical draw: <"What do they call Chinese food in China?">

I learned some Chinese and Chinese food translates to "things you pick up with two sticks and put in your mouth." More or less.

WannaBe: Artistic Rights and how they are "Divided"...

https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment...

It is really nothing 'new'... When Star Trek Franchise got divided, Paramount got the movies, and CBS got the TV rights.

So you can watch Star Trek Discovery and Picard on CBS Online, but movies? NOPE! NOPE! NOPE!

Paramount can negotiate all they want with Q. Tarantino on the next Star Trek, or whoever, but CBS have <ZERO> say so on the story line and change of Star Trek cannon.

(When you watch a movie, and you see these 5 movie studio logos at the intro, this is how it happens, they all co-produce the movie, and when the franchise goes up for sale, they get a piece of the pie. Depending on how the contract was written...)

So, yeah, that next mega-Marvel-Universe ($900M production cost) movie that have MGM, Paramount, Bad Rabbit, SKG, Disney, Sony & Warner Brothers logos before the movie starts... You now know why.

Alex Kurtzman, who is involved with Silence of the Lambs is a majorly involved with Star Trek with CBS Online

Dec-23-20  thegoodanarchist: <diceman:

800 light years from now>

A light year is a distance, not a time. It should read "800 light years from here".

A parsec is also a unit of distance. So Han Solo's line "She made the Kessel run in 12 parsecs" is an unfortunate goof that marred the original Star Wars.

Dec-23-20  technical draw: <tga> Glad to see that I'm not the only one correcting those that say "that was light years ago!"

WannaBe: Why is that, Japanese or some Asian drums are bang'd laying down, instead of the European way of "up?'' I think Korean and Japanese are the only two that I know of that does it this way. Maybe Korean got it from Japanese influence, or other way around.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zag...

Does it resonate more? Strike more fear into the enemy? And if the drum is struck on both sides, does it sound louder or more intimidating?

WannaBe: Totally freakin' hilarious... But I can't hear them sing.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRh...

Dec-24-20  technical draw: Thanks for those great links <WannaBe>. I enjoyed all of them. However, two things I noticed the: In the Little drummer boy video did you notice at the extreme left the lone violinist with the magnificent beard? And also the Japanese drummers defy the laws of physics by playing with their feet so far apart.

I hope you have a very happy Christmas and New Year and that 2021 can help us overcome the griefs of 2020.....TD
