Kibitzer's Corner
Nov-12-06  twinlark: Kasparov thought that Spassky was preparing an improvement on John William Schulten 's response to Morphy's 6...e3 in the 1857 game: J Schulten vs Morphy, 1857, but Bronstein played 6...0-0 instead.

Did we ever find out what Spassky had in mind, I wonder?

IMlday: In Schulten-Morphy 10.Kf2 was the improvement; hence Bronstein's improvisation. Kotov in the Informant criticized 15.g3 recommending 15.Ne6 which is fancy if accepted but 15..Ra4 seems to favour Black.
Feb-15-10  Ulhumbrus: In the game J Schulten vs Morphy, 1857 Morphy played 6...e3 instead of 6...0-0
