Kibitzer's Corner
Apr-20-04  iron maiden: The very last recorded game of chess that Lasker ever played. He was seventy-two at the time of this game, and just after was stricken by poor health.

If White had kept playing, 40. Nxd5 exd5 41. Rxd5 looks like it could win...

Apr-20-04  TrueFiendish: I think it's a draw: 40.Nxd5+ exd5 41.Rxd5 Rc4 and black will either capture the f-pawn and white's a-pawn will not win or white will defend the f-pawn and black will capture the a-pawn with a draw.
Nov-01-04  aw1988: <iron maiden> Marshall vs Lasker, 1940
Nov-01-04  iron maiden: <aw1998> That was the first game of the mini-match. This was the second.
Nov-01-04  iron maiden: I meant to address that to <aw1988>, of course; sorry for the misspelling.
Nov-01-04  aw1988: Heh I should type in "search kibitzing" aw1998 and see how many people misspelled it...
Nov-01-04  aw1988: Ah, not too many. Maybe I shouldn't have made it so confusing.
Nov-01-04  aw1988: OK... that last post of mine was irritating. Time to lie down.
Aug-19-13  jerseybob: Marshall was staying abreast of modern opening trends to the very end of his life, with the King's Indian, Grunfeld, and here, the Pirc, sprinkled into his reportoire, and he played these new openings well too.
Dec-22-14  TheFocus: Match Game 2 played in New York, New York on May 19, 1940.

Lasker lost with a score of +0=1-1.
