Jan-09-05  mynameisrandy: Who is it who has the picturesque games collection? I think the position after 35... f5 qualifies.

tamar: Game Collection: Picturesque Positions Unfortunately not taking new entries unless Benjamin Lau returns.
Jan-09-05  Gypsy: Unfortunate indeed, it is a good collection. But more than about the loss of the collection I am still bummed about the loss of Ben's fellowship.
Apr-05-07  Helios727: What happens after 41. -, e2 ?
Apr-05-07  vonKrolock: 42.♖xc3+ ♔ moves 43.♖e3 etc
May-24-08  Atking: Well I'm not sure that Larsen could not defend with 28...RxBc6 29.bxRa7 Ra6 30.Rxd5 Be5 31.g3 Rxa7 34.f4 Bf6 35.Rxd6 Kg7 not easy to progress for White.
Jun-02-08  inthestepsofTal: This introduces a completely new concept for me in beating the dragon with white - the ...a3 b3 followed by c4, black takes E.p. and advance of the b-pawn. Has anyone seen anything similar?
May-26-10  elohah: White got nothing after 23 moves.
Looks like 23...e5 and 24...Rc7, followed by ...Rac5 and a relatively risk-free exchange sac is one idea.

What does it show? That the Yugoslav is too sterotypical?

May-26-10  elohah: Hold the phone here!

23...e5?! 24 dxe6! Rxc6 25 e7!

Boy, Tal was really a sneaky rat sometimes!

Jun-13-10  elohah: 24...bxc3? was Larsen's major error here, freeing White's b-pawn. 24...Rc7! (threatening ...e5) 25 Bb5, when White doesn't have Jack. Larsen lost TWO games in his line here, yet LARSEN was correct! (Not Fischer or Tal). So what's the modern answer to Larsen's concept here?

Peligroso Patzer: The Fischer vs. Larsen game to which <elohah> refers is: Fischer vs Larsen, 1958.

According to Fischer's notes in <My Sixty Memorable Games", Batsford Chess©1969, 2008, at p. 20, the "losing move" in that game was <15. ... Rac8> instead of the correct <15. ... Nxd5>.

Jun-17-15  poorthylacine: Elolah: I'm french, that's why maybe I like so much your expression: "sneaky rat"!! So funny! Because in France there is not really an equivalent expression, ha ha!!!! Not so funny, anyway....

offramp: A black pawn comes off at move 3 but the he keeps his remaining 7 pawns until move 38.

Richard Taylor: I think Larsen won the next major match they played. I'm not so sure Tal's Bb5 was best, it isn't played much.

perfidious: <Richard>, not sure what you mean--they met in the candidates, two cycles on, with Tal prevailing in the final game to take the match: Tal vs Larsen, 1965, a wild and woolly affair.
Jul-17-17  clement41: 16 Rhe1!? : after exd5 fixes the backward pawn on e7, Tal rightly shifts plans and opts for pressure along the e-file, thereby abandoning his initial plan of h4/h5 and "sac , sac, mate"
Feb-23-22  N.O.F. NAJDORF: I prefer

41. Rb3

followed by a4, a5, a6, a7
