 | | jaime gallegos: I haven´t seen the Queen´s Indian Defense in a world champion match before since Karpov in 1984, right ? |
Jul-05-04 | | acirce: It was used in the 1986 match too. |
Jul-05-04 | | mymt: it starts with 10...Nc5 & then 11...Nce4! with the win of a pawn, that weakens the a pawn who finaly falls to 35...Qxa4 allowing his Black counterpart to star in the final curtain call.An out standing game by Kasi who followed this up with another beauty to topple Topalov. |

You mean 13.Qd2 didn't lead to a much better position for White? |
Jul-05-04 | | themindset: does anyone know why the QID is so unpopular at the WC level? i thought it was considered very sound. |
Jul-07-04 | | BoboKayo: <themindset> try the Bogo-Indian instead. check out Ulf Andersson on this website. he's a great practicioner of the Bogo. |
Jul-07-04 | | Geronimo: Anyone have comments on 11.Nb3? It seems pretty weak to me and doesn't contribute to white's development. Wouldn't Rfe1 or Bb2 (or even Ba3!) have been better? |
Jul-07-04 | | acirce: You got to take care of the attacked d-pawn. Also the pretty c5-knight is removed from its outpost, it does return there after a nice circuit, but by then it has opened up the a1-h8 diagonal for White! What I do NOT understand is, once again, why White didn't play 13.Qd2, seems MUCH better for White after ..Na4 14.Qb4. |

Jul-07-04 | | dac1990: "Veselin Toppled Off"
...
That is one of the worst puns I've ever seen. |
Jul-07-04 | | kevin86: Just when it looks like white is out of the soup, the a pawn comes right down his throat-just as the torpedo did to Capt. Tupalov in THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER. |
Oct-05-05 | | ajile: Why not 33.Ne4?
Attacks the Black queen with tempo and gets an attack on the next move with Ng5. |
Oct-05-05 | | Abaduba: < the mindset > I know this is late, but I don't think the QID is at all unpopular at the top levels. I mean, it's the primary d4 defense of Leko, Kramnik, Anand, etc. We didn't see much of it in recent Coruses or Linares because everyone played e4 or c4 - presumably because they didn't want to face the QID. I mean, Kramnik and Leko are pretty much unbeatable with it. When we did see d4 games, it was against players who didn't use the QID much, like Kasparov or Morozevich. |

 | | Mateo: Instead of 13. Qc2 (?!), stronger seems 13. Qd2 and after 13... Na4 14. Qb4 b5 white wins back the pawn with much the better game. |

Feb-04-07 | | Whitehat1963: Here's another approach in our efforts against Shulman. Take a look, ya'll. |
