Jan-25-12  Whitehat1963: Ouch! Topalov is getting no love in this tournament. From top or bottom.
Jan-25-12  Kinan: It's not a porn site Whitehat.

Ulhumbrus: After 19...Qg5 with his pawn on e4 against a pawn on d6 White has an advantage in space and so it may seem that Black has no "right" to enjoy the initiative on the King side. Black's king's bishop placed on the square c5, on the diagonal g1-a7, makes all the difference. It supports the leap of Black's knight from e5 and g4 to f2.
Jan-25-12  HectorChess: According to chessbase Topalov's performance after 10 games is: 2681.

tamar: Topalov's game collapses in a way reminiscent of Game 12 Topalov vs Anand, 2010

Instead of playing 26 Kg2 Nxe4 27 Re1 and laboring on with only a slight disadvantage, Topalov goes berserk.

Jan-25-12  Penguincw: < tamar >

I was thinking that game for a different reason. Topalov, with the white pieces, can not draw a game down a rook and minor piece vs. queen.

tamar: <Penguincw> That game broke his spirit I think.

He knew playing aggressively would objectively favor Anand, but could not prevent himself from going for it, since he feared the rapid tie-break.

Here it just looks like suicide for no reason. I don't see any chances for White after he loses his Queen.

Ulhumbrus: Caruana's play indicates one answer to the question of what Black is advised well to do if White concedes the bishop pair by Bxf6: Develop the king's bishop on to the g1-a7 diagonal by playing it to c5.
