Feb-24-14  mathlover: Ng5+ followed by Rh3# ....
Feb-24-14  Coriolis: I'm not complaining. In weeks previous I was not seeing the Easy/Very Easy puzzles very easily. I had to wait until about a Thursday before the answer (first move at least) was immediately obvious. Maybe CG are compensating, nursing the confidence of those they bruised back to good health.
Feb-24-14  Francio: <agb2002: It is not Grounghod Day> Of course no, that was 22 days ago :)

Penguincw: Hopefully, <cg> sees this "error" and will replace it with a new puzzle.

In the meantime, since it was only a week ago, this Monday puzzle was probably the easiest ever.

Feb-24-14  whiteshark: It's Monday (morning). What are you expecting? Skål!
Feb-24-14  mel gibson: The worst move was 11...BxN.

Black swaps a fianchetto style Bishop for a Knight.
This opened up a diagonal for control
by white which directly attacked the King
& for which there was no defense.

A golden rule of chess:

Never swap off a fianchetto Bishop lightly.

The computer says 11...Nc8 depth 17

score for black = -0.47

Feb-24-14  CC0112358: This belongs somewhere between Sunday and Monday. What day of the week would that be?
Feb-24-14  CC0112358: Buhmann must have had the flu. He got played like a violin. Not impressive for a 2500.
Feb-24-14  BOSTER: If < CG> repeat this move, this is a draw.
Feb-24-14  kevin86: After Ng5+,black will be mated or lose his queen.

Didn't we have a VERY similar game recently?

just think: Monday=queen sac
manic monday=winning the queen.

just another manic monday- lol

Feb-24-14  PJs Studio: A lot of amateurs say things about blacks 11th...Bxc3? "Oh no! I can't do that. I'll be weak on the dark squares around my king."

Turns out, they are more careful in offhand games than GM Buhmann is in the Bundesliga

Feb-24-14  Robin Gitte: Thumbs up for CG. Last week, I (actually) failed. This week I got it straight away. 1/1 - I'm on a roll. :)

Can we have the regular Tuesday puzzle tomorrow - for the same reason? :)

Feb-24-14  Marmot PFL: Want to lose quick? Put all your pawns on light sq and trade the DSB for a knight.
Feb-24-14  MountainMatt: In the Matrix, when this kind of repetition occurred, it meant agents were closing in. I'm afraid, I'm very afraid...
Feb-24-14  PJs Studio: Black could've tried 18...Nd4. Sure he loses the knight, but he's got another one he's not even using.
Feb-24-14  RookFile: <Marmont PFL: Want to lose quick? Put all your pawns on light sq and trade the DSB for a knight.>

LOL.... indeed, sir.

chessgames.com: We'd like to apologize for the accidental reuse of last week's puzzle. Things will be back to normal tomorrow.
Feb-24-14  BOSTER: <Marmot PFL Want to lose>.

Not always.

Feb-24-14  Nullifidian: 19. ♘g5+ ♙hxg5 20. ♖h3# or 19... ♕xg5 20. ♙fxg5 wins the queen.
Feb-25-14  kevin86: If cg.com repeats a puzzle three times-is it a draw?

<Feb-24-14 perfessor: Deja vu all over again.>

<Feb-24-14 piltdown man: Deja vu, all over again.>

<Feb-24-14 patzer2: "It's déjà vu all over again".>

<Feb-24-14 BOSTER: If < CG> repeat this move, this is a draw>

<kevin86: If cg.com repeats a puzzle three times-is it a draw?>

Wonderfully witty comments.
