alexmagnus: For future reference (in case somebody asks what the win is :D), Black was caught cheating in this game (cell phone on the toilet).

Check It Out: From this article: <After my opponent left the very toilet partition yet another time, the arbiters entered it. What they found was the mobile phone with headphones; the device was hidden behind the pan and covered with toilet paper.

We both were sitting at the board, when the chief arbiter came up to Nigalidze and showed him the mobile phone, asking: "Is this yours?" Nigalidze blushed, got confused and couldn't say anything.

The arbiter forfeited him in the game. I went outdoors, and Gaioz approached me. I thought he was going to apologize, but he only asked me what was going to happen to him as a result.">

Revealing in more ways than one.

offramp: It's slightly possible that white's last move was 23.Bc1-f4, not 23.Rf1-f4. Have a look at the photos of black's smartphone at http://en.chessbase.com/post/dubai-... in particular the enigmatic http://en.chessbase.com/Portals/4/f... which shows two different possibilites. It certainly looks certain that Petrosyan's rook is on f4.... but the phone tells a different story, and the bishop move is more chessy.
Apr-13-15  Gilmoy: Maybe he played <23.Rf4 quickly> to take the phone out of book!
Apr-13-15  Mating Net: I'll bet he got the cheating in the bathroom idea from the Godfather. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_...

Just as well he didn't take on board the whole idea .... :O

I don't know what action will be taken against him, but in some ways it's rather academic. Just imagine if he was let off, this would make him a laughing stock whenever he shows his face in the chess commmunity. All the other players get to play White or Black. He'd get Yellow or Brown ;)

I think I've seen the answer to the small discrepancy. The last move was Rf4. But on black's last visit to the toilet he analysed a few moves in advance, and the iphone expectation for white's 23rd had been 23.Bf4. That's why that move is on the screen. And it looks as if, had Petrosyan played 23.Bf4, then the reply would have been 23....b6. I suppose that after 23.Rf4 Nigalidze looked at his opponent and said, "Um, I'm just off to the washroom, again!" just before the arbiter stepped in.

Apr-15-15  nalinw: Very nice <alfamikewhiskey> - this should be Pun of the Day - on May 17th - which - believe it or not - is World Information Society Day!
