Oct-29-06  Eastfrisian: "Ash" was also a member of the British Chess Team 1937 at the Chess Olympiad in Stockholm. Later he was President of the BCF from 1953 to 1956. Educated at New College, Oxford, he was from 1959 to 1968 Professor of English Law.

He died already in 1987.
