GrahamClayton: A year ago Devenney read his final sermon as the Rector of Drumbeg:

Domdaniel: <GrahamClayton> Thanks, an interesting link. I played in the 1977 Irish championship, where Ray Devenney tied for 1st. This was an upset, as his rating was only around 2100 at the time, but he was always a tough competitor - I remember drawing with him in the 1980s.

I suppose we might add William James Lombardy and, um, Ruy Lopez to your list of Holy Pawn-rollers?

Domdaniel: Since his retirement a couple of years ago, Ray Devenney has been actively playing chess. His rating is lower than it used to be, but he is still a tough competitor. It would be good to see some more recent games by him - the games here are from the 60s and early 70s, predating even his Irish championship win in '77.

So if anyone out there has some recent games by Ray, please submit them.
