JANIS KRUZKOPS
(born Mar-08-1912, died Feb-10-1960, 47 years old) Latvia

[what is this?]

In 1937, Janis Kruzkops made his debut in the Latvian Chess Championship , but without much success. During the Second World War , he participated in the Latvian championship in 1943 and in the Latvian and Estonian chess tournament in Riga. After the war, Kruzkops often played in the finals of the Latvian Chess Championship - in 1945 , 1947 and 1948 and 1949 . The best success was achieved in 1945, when the 2nd place of the Latvian championship was won, because the winner Vladimir Alatortsev played outside the competition. In post-war Riga, Kruzkops became the main educator of young chess players. He was the first coach of future world chess champion Mikhail Tal. Among his other students were future grandmasters Aivars Gipslis , Janis Klovans and Latvian championship winners Jānis Kļaviņš and Marks Pasmans
