Dr. Paul Tröger was born in Augsburg. German sports journalist and one the prominent Germans Chess master of post-war Germany. He was West German Champion in 1957.

He also wrote a number of chess books, many with humorous German titles such as Danke Partner – für Deinen Fehler!
