Kibitzer's Corner
Feb-06-05  WMD: Lontoc was an eight-time champion of the Philippines. He drew Alekhine in a blindfold exhibition game:

Alekhine vs Mencarini / Lontoc, 1933

Feb-15-10  asianwarrior: He was a member of the Philippine chess team in the 1974 Nice Olympiad where they ended in 11th place. It was a surprise to many because it was then composed of only three International Masters and three National Masters. Two of them later become grandmasters (Torre and Balinas)

spawn2: Will try to find games where NM Lontoc is the victor. His current record here in chessgames does not reflect his true strength as a player who is feared by his opponents.

GrahamClayton: One of the few players in the database to have played against both Alekhine and Fischer.

Benzol: <Graham> A month or so ago there was a discussion about players who had faced Capablanca and/or Alyekhin and Fischer.

See <beatgiant>'s post at Robert James Fischer for more details. I was suprised at how large the number of players actually was.
