  Benzol: Carlos Eduardo Gouveia
He was Brazilian champion in 1975.
Jan-01-05  vonKrolock: Actually neither i find some Gouveia bio on-line - I knew him in the South Brazilian Team Ty Novo Hamburgo 1974 - He played for Rio de Janeiro in the first board. A very talented player, born in the early fifties, he never became a pro - In those days i believe he had, in a level immediatelly following Mecking's, no rivals besides Sunyé and Segal (resp. our best Junior and a strong European -from Romania- émigré)
Jan-02-05  vonKrolock: <born in the early fifties> More precisely: August 30th, 1950

Benzol: <vonKrolock> Thanks for updating the very sketchy info I had. I presume he was born in Brazil?
Jun-07-05  vonKrolock: <Benzol> Certainly - he's a typical "carioca" (born and living in Rio de Janeiro) :)
Aug-30-09  whiteshark: Should be unified with Carlos Eduardo Gouveia
Aug-31-09  vonKrolock: After his win in the Brazilian ch, he scored decently in the South American Zonal that same year in Fortaleza http://www.brasilbase.pro.br/rot197...

Four years later, although not immediately sugested by the final standings, but Gouveia was Sunye`s most dangerous rival in the fight for a spot in the 1979 Interzonal! (the winner in this Bra-ch would play in Rio de Janisro FIDE Interzonal) http://www.brasilbase.pro.br/bra197...
