Vlasta Macek (nee Kalchbrenner) was born on the 27th of June 1952 in Zagreb, Yugoslavia. Awarded the WIM title in 1974 she was Yugoslav Women's Champion in 1973 (jointly) and also finished 1st= in 1980 but lost on tie break. In 1992 (Djakovo) and 1999 she won the Croatian championship (w). She also won the 2003 European Women Senior Chess Championship. She was the coach/captain of the 2012 Women's Croatian Olympiad team.
