Valentina Yakovlevna Kozlovskaya was born in Yessentuki*. She was awarded the WIM title in 1965 and the WGM title in 1976 and won the USSR Women's Championship title in 1965. In 1966, Kozlovskaya won the gold medal with USSR in the Women's Olympiad in Havana, Cuba. In 1996, she won the World Senior Women Chess Championship. In 2014, she won the European Women's Senior Championship in the 65+ category.

She was married to Igor Bondarevsky.
