Povilas (Paul) Vaitonis was born on the 15th of August 1911 in Uzpaliai, Lithuania. He emigrated to Canada in 1948. Awarded the IM title in 1952, he was Canadian Champion in 1951 and 1957. He represented Canada on 3rd board at the Olympiad in 1954 & 1958. He passed away in Hamilton in 1983.
