It's in the run for one of the new world wonders (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Se...). We're also going to take a bath in the Dead Sea.

I hope the showers work. :-)

cu8sfan: <acirce> Lol! Such an incident happens every other year.

But honestly, Switzerland must be one of just a few countries that has won territory in WWII. We took a hill from Liechtenstein because we needed it to complete our fortresses in the mountains. I've heard this story several times but am yet to see any written confirmation.

Apr-24-07  chessamateur: <cu8sfan> Don't give up hope! If the Red Sox won it and then the White Sox won it, the Cubs must be next in line, right? Oh yeah then the hated Cardinals won it and Mark Prior and Kerry Wood being on the DL doesn't help either. It's hard being a Cubs fan, but I wish them the best of luck. Their fans deserve a championship after all these years. Good luck Cubs in 2007!

WannaBe: <cu8sfan> ! Good game on GK.com, I fell asleep at the wheel (again!)

<DrDum>, <you vs yourself> and I had a great time at the ball park, <DrDum> and I got there early, so we had a few brews, and got in early, sat on the patio and chatted with some great locals.

This is our (<DrDum> and I) first time to Wrigley, and the atmosphere was just great. Gonna try to make it to New York for Yankee Stadium's last year. Gotta see it, before it gets demolished.

If this is going to be the Cubs year, they need to get their act together, and quickly.

Watching a tennis match? Ping -Pong.

Your lefthanded (-: in a righthanded world, stuck in my eye, even without reading the comment in question.

BTW, do you play free cell on our PC? Move your cursor over the little head in the middle of the top: that is virtual Wimbledon Syndrome.

How are things?

WannaBe: Cubs are the hottest team in baseball, with a 6 game winning streak!!

This all happened after they traded the catcher...

If they can play well and get some momentum going, they'll be an interesting team after the All-Star break.

Jun-28-07  Chess Classics: Yeah, but the Cubs are about to play a series against the Brewers, who are pretty hot themselves. At least, though, we've still retained a shot at the division, even if it's a long one.

CC

cu8sfan: <Cubs are the hottest team in baseball, with a 6 game winning streak!!> Well, they're not even in the Fab 15: http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/news/fab_fif.... Maybe next week. (-:

I don't know, should I be happy that they're doing good, winning 6 in a row and being only 7.5 out of first or should I worry that they're still playing sub-500 baseball. And what about the June swoon when they have to play afternoon games in the blazing summer heat... LET'S GO CUBS!!!

Jun-29-07  YouRang: Hah! I noticed you talking about the Cubs, so I switched over to mlb.com to see how they were doing.

I tuned into the "gameday" page for the Cubs-Brewers game just in time to see the bottom of the ninth.

The Cubs were trailing 5-3, but they got a couple of singles to put runners on 1st and 3rd with one out. Then Lee hit a sac fly to make it 5-4, and with two out, Ramirez socked a two-run homer to win it for the Cubs, 5-6!

Now what are the chances of that?

Jun-30-07  Chess Classics: Walk-off jack by Ramirez! Only 6.5 back now! Woo! 7 in a row!

Regards,
CC

cu8sfan: http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/news/fab_fif.... Now they're in. Just barely but they're in. These Cubs are on a roll! It's good to see them winning at last. May be April/May were a fluke.

WannaBe: Congrats to your fellow countrymen: http://sports.espn.go.com/oly/ac07/...
Jul-03-07  YouRang: I'm on a roll! Last week I tuned in just in time to see the Cubs make a dramatic come-back against the Brewers.

Then, last night I went to the gym to play some racquetball, and on my way out I caught the Dodger-Braves game playing on a TV in the break room.

It was tied 1-1 in the sixth inning with 2 out and bases empty. But then a batter reached first on a strike-out (!) [batter swung and missed for 3rd strike, but the got away from the catcher so the batter reached first safely]. Then Kemp comes up and blasts a two-run homer to put the Dodgers up 3-1! (I found out later that the Dodgers won.)

I should sell my "good luck charm" services. :-)

cu8sfan: <I should sell my "good luck charm" services.> Doesn't look like the Cubs are in need of them any time soon. (-: O blast, I jinxed them!

<Congrats to your fellow countrymen> What a great finish that was yesterday! They won by one second. Winning the America's Cup twice is quite a feat for a landlocked country. (And yes, I know that all the important sailors on board are not Swiss...)
