Aug-31-09 | | timhortons: naka is good in playing low rated players, making blunders in an opening and surviving it, sometimes lossing sometimes winning.he not only showed it at icc but as well in many over the board game like in japan. i believe he could still pull surprises and could catch the attention of the organizers.maybe lossing some tourney big time and winning some big time. as of now the naka boat is floating well with handfull of fans..so far in naka winning and lossing were the same people who kibitz in a positive way for him. i still believe nak can do better than this! yes! that the spirit! until his next tourney.au revoir:)
<ill observe the tourneo international de montreal and hope anton kovalyov could make it, though i feel his chance is low against the like of naiditsch and bacrot, but who knows?, i always like this boy, i hope he could catch up with wesley so and fabiano caruana> |

Aug-31-09 | | lorker: <timhortons><naka is good in playing low rated players> yeah somehow we didn't really see that here. his sloppy play was being punished by 2500 players like Ljubojevic.
<i still believe nak can do better than this!> well he couldn't really do much worse could he? |
Aug-31-09 | | frogbert: nielsen at 2697,2 after this event, btw. |

Aug-31-09 | | returnoftheking: <alchemist> wasn't it Tartakower who said it first ? |
Aug-31-09 | | laskereshevsky: <Larsen once quipped he's never defeated a healthy opponent....> I think the first who said it was Amos Burn |
Aug-31-09 | | zarg: <well he couldn't really do much worse could he?> when an aggressive player do badly, he often do very badly. Playing sharp and not being able to calculate, is a bad combo. They can't easily change style of play. |
Aug-31-09 | | Knight13: <They can't easily change style of play.> I'm only an amateur, but I've changed <from super-aggressive and attacking style> to <purely positional> to <sharp tactical and positional play> in less than 3 years. |
Aug-31-09 | | Fish55: Actually, Nakamura has had quite a good year until this tournament. His unofficial FIDE rating had reached 2735, putting him in the World top 20. That doesn't happen by accident. |
Aug-31-09 | | kulangot: I'm sure if Naka did well here, nobody will say that he's an overrated player. Some people tend to focus on player's bad tournament. Oh my gulay! It's only one disastrous tournament against four excellent tournament for Naka this year. |
Sep-01-09 | | shintaro go: A solid outing for Fabiano although I was expecting a couple more wins. But his victory over Peter Svidler is yet another great achievement in his young career. |
Sep-01-09 | | shintaro go: Hou Yifan = -3 |
Sep-01-09 | | firebyrd: <others such as Ivanchuk, Leko, Kramnik, who've ... kept a high rating consistently> Not sure all of your examples there are suited to illustrate your point ... |

Sep-01-09 | | percyblakeney: Not much rest for Hou Yifan:

Sep-01-09 | | dehanne: Why isn't Kasparov playing here instead of Svidler? Afraid to lose against the kiddies? |
Sep-01-09 | | gus inn: <dehanne: Why isn't Kasparov playing here instead of Svidler? Afraid to lose against the kiddies?> Has been there. And won it all.
He is now engaged in politics. |

If Kasparov made a tournament comeback against Hou Yifan he would surely be called a coward anyway, so it usually doesn't matter what he does :-) |
Sep-01-09 | | Knight13: Kasparov already proved himself beyond every body.
His life, his choice. |
Sep-02-09 | | falso contacto: ljubo is not weak player. |
Sep-02-09
 | | Fusilli: Why did someone bring up Kasparov? We all know he retired in 2005. Has he hinted at a comeback? |
Sep-02-09 | | Knight13: <Fusilli> No. |
Oct-05-09 | | whiteshark: Good judgment is usually the result of experience.
And experience is frequently the result of bad judgment. |
