Jan-05-25  Mimzovich: Poor Samisch
Jan-05-25  Olavi: He lost all his games on time in his next (and last) tournament too: Nordic Championship (1969)

Why did he play in the Nordic championship? Titled outside players were invited to give norm possibilities, in Lidköping that unfortunately fell thrugh due to several last minute withdrawals.

perfidious: Saemisch certainly was invited because he was a non-Swedish player with a title, thus fulfilling two preconditions; in his work <A Book of Chess>, Hugh Alexander discusses how, well past his best days, he received invitations from other countries for the same reason, but declined.

Troller: Saemisch was a last-minute replacement for a Bulgarian player (Bulgaria had promised to send 2 GMs). He lost all his games on time.

Larsen also joined the event less than a week before it started; in his own words he played well against the stronger opponents but was lucky in several games against weaker players who in some cases were happy to get a draw.
