World Rapid Championship (Women) (2018) |
The 2018 King Salman FIDE Women's World Rapid Championship was a 12-round Swiss open taking place in St. Petersburg, Russia from 26-28 December. The prize fund was $150,000, with $40,000 for 1st place. Time control: 15 minutes per player for all moves, with a 10-second increment from move one. If there was a tie for 1st place, the top two players would compete in a playoff match consisting of two 3+2 blitz games. If the score was still level, the players would play a sudden death or Armageddon game (in which the player who won the drawing of lots might choose the color, and the player with the white pieces would get 5 minutes to Black's 4, with a 2-second increment after move 60, while a draw counted as a win for Black. Tournament director: Mark Gluhovsky. Chief arbiter: Laurent Freyd. No playoff was needed, since Ju Wenjun won clear first with 10/12. Official site: http://wrbc2018.com/en/lists/rapid-...

Dec-29-18 | | john barleycorn: Interesting how this event got totally ignored. Especially by Rogoff liberals. Or do women play so badly that those particular gentlemen keep silent? |

I guess you also are able to explain why the women played 12 rounds and the men 15. |

 | | Tabanus: What you ignored is that Z Mamedjarova vs Daria Yurasova, 2018 ended 1-0 |
|
Jan-07-19 | | Sokrates: I don't think the women's efforts here are less interesting and entertaining than the men's section. It goes without saying that they all are rated in a lower league, but it's one of the thrills of chess that it can be enjoyed and appreciated at all levels, right? |
