The 29th Dortmunder Sparkassen Chess-Meeting took place in the Dortmunder Opernhaus (Theater, Schauspielhaus) in Dortmund, Germany 12-22 July 2001. Rest day: July 17. Games started at 2 pm local time, except Round 1 (1:30 pm) and Round 10 (11:30 am). Time controls: "Standard" (FIDE). Vladimir Kramnik won the event for the 6th time, now on SB tiebreak ahead of Veselin Topalov, both with 6.5/10.
