Atterdag: Primarily an Indian event - with Giri, Keymer, Robson, Awonder as exceptions. Fortunately, India is capable of mustering a world class elite to make this an exciting event, chesswise.

offramp: The Indian World Chess Champion Gukesh preferred to play a blitz match with Duda in Katowice. Understandable.

perfidious: While never having been a fan of Giri, he generally displays plenty of fight in his games.
Aug-16-25  greed and death: Keymer clinched with a round to spare and then won his final round game anyways where many players would've simply played for an easy draw. He's had an impressive run across several tournaments since mid-2024 or so.
