Teacher, GM & Chess's "Praeceptor Germaniae"
Compiled by LIFE Master AJ
--*--

GM Siegbert Tarrasch was - quite simply - one of the greatest chess players who ever lived. (See a BIO that I wrote for this player at: http://maskeret.com/cgi-bin/wiwp.cg.... And although he lost this game, there is also a BIO of Tarrasch at the bottom of this page: http://www.lifemasteraj.com/old_af-....)

Tarrasch played in the great tournament of St. Petersburg, 1914. By qualifying for the finals, he became one of ... "The five ORIGINAL Grand-Masters of Chess." (The other four were Jose Raul Capablanca, Emanuel Lasker, Alexander Alekhine and Frank J. Marshall.) See the bottom of the following web page for more info on the great St. Petersburg Tournament of 1914. ---> http://www.ajschess.com/lifemastera...

Check out my annotations of the game, A Nimzowitsch vs Tarrasch, 1914 at: http://www.ajschess.com/lifemastera....
