Oct-16-15 | | RookFile: This game was over before it started. It's an example of Fischer's outstanding prep. |
Oct-16-15
 | | harrylime: To be honest Fischer was so far ahead back then it's not true. |
Jun-12-16 | | The Boomerang: "To be honest Fischer was so far ahead back then it's not true" Why did it take so long for Fischer to win the world championship of he was so far ahead? Unlike Kasparov or Carlsen. |
Nov-30-16 | | Eusebius: <The Boomerang>
According to Fischer the Russians cheated... |
Jun-10-17 | | The Boomerang: "The Boomerang> According to Fischer the Russians cheated..." Yeah and according to Fischer all Kasparov vs Karpov games were pre arranged... He's opinion is about as trustworthy as Donald Trump. |
Jun-10-17 | | The Boomerang: Carlsen would wipe the floor with Fischer in blitz. 2944 rating!!!! |
Jun-10-17
 | | HeMateMe: ...unless of course Fischer's 2800 rating would be worth 3050, in today's dollars... |
Mar-31-18 | | Justin796: Korchnoi certainly got blitzed, and being a Saturday night, I shall get blitzed as well. |
Jun-23-18 | | Olsonist: A knight on the rim is looking dim.
But this knight in the corner is looking ornery. |
Apr-08-19 | | cunctatorg: This knight in the corner, looking ornery, is Nimzowitsch's horse; the great Akiba Rubinstein knew that... |
Apr-08-19
 | | harrylime: Robert James Fischer is BEST BY TEST.
The Greatest chess player of all time. |
Apr-08-19
 | | harrylime: Gotta give the GREAT Victor his dues.
Alas there was no Bobby v Victor chess match.
Chess lost out there.
Big time. |
May-05-19 | | Helios727: In the KID I noticed that somewhere around move 9 or 10 Black moves his f6-knight to either e8 or d7. What are the factors that determine which of these is the proper square? |
May-06-19 | | SChesshevsky: <Helios727...f6-knight to either e8 or d7...> I'm not sure there's a definitive answer. Watson talks about it a little in his openings book but not definitively. It seems dependent on whites 9th to me. With 9. Ne1 in the classical KID 9...Nd7 looks ok though blocking a lot because Ne1 hints at possible king side action and black might want e5 covered. Though 9...Ne8 also looks doable practically as a quick...f5 and ...Nf6 return might be common. With 9. Nd2, it seems 9...Ne8 is preferred as White looks to possibly go queen side with b4 and Nb3. So ...Ne8 covers d6 while not blocking which could help unhinder a needed king side response. But that's just my impression and might not be entirely accurate. |

Jan-05-20 | | ewan14: Fischer was so good at this blitz he lost to Korchnoi when the colours were reversed |
Jan-05-20 | | ewan14: In the last played classical game between Fischer and Korchnoi it was the former who had to fight to obtain the half point |
Jan-05-20 | | ewan14: Did Fischer ever play in a real supertournament like the USSR championship ( as per Korchnoi ) ? Maybe the 59 and 62 candidates tournaments. Did he win those ? No |
Jan-05-20
 | | HeMateMe: Has anyone defeated defending champion Magnus Carlsen by 4 (four!) points in a world championship match? Nope, but Fischer beat Spassky 12 1/2 to 8 1/2 in 1972. Spassky still had game; he won the USSR championship (a 'super tournament') the next year. |
Jan-05-20 | | WorstPlayerEver: Fischer once beat 20 guys in a row.
Steinitz, however, once beat 25 guys in a row.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lis...But Steinitz' opponents were a combination of barely masters and coffee house club champions. Fischer's opponents were pro chess players. |
Jan-05-20 | | WorstPlayerEver: <Carrots and Pizza> Gee, never knew Fischer analyzed the games of coffee house players! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=LBX72... |
Jan-05-20 | | Carrots and Pizza: <worstplayerever>, the title of the video you shared is Fischer on Steinitz. I did not say Steinitz was a coffeehouse player, but half of his opponents were. |
Jan-05-20 | | WorstPlayerEver: PS Fischer was such a genius, the great chess student, notice that he does not remember the game.. he has to consult his sheet for every move, even the opening moves.. in stark contract to what is said about Fischer: 12:42
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=V14gX...
Makes you wonder, not...? |
Jan-05-20 | | WorstPlayerEver: <Carrots and Pizza> <But Steinitz' opponents were a combination of barely masters and coffee house club champions.> <I did not say Steinitz was a coffeehouse player, but half of his opponents were.> No, you didn't. Now you are backpeddling, because of Blackburne, Anderssen, Rosenthal, Bird and Paulsen. I bet you quickly took a peep at Vienna 1873. Otherwise you had not stated 'half of his opponents...' so suddenly. May I ask you.. did you ever consult a psychiatrist? |
Jan-05-20 | | WorstPlayerEver: "He's playing through the entire game in a few seconds.. every move!" |
