| | perfidious: <JoergWalter> When I came back to CG, he went straight to ignore. Life's a lot easier that way. The 'threat' of not renewing is probably just another play for sympathy. Let him whine to the few who tolerate his antics. In the 1990s, when I was playing the King's Indian, the move I played in this was also 9....c5. By then, though, the popular reply had become 10.dxc6 bxc6 11.b4 d5 12.Ba3, which is what I faced in my only game against 9.Nd2. It's unfortunate that this game featured the strategic error bxc5, but it was the very early days of this whole line, and if even great players can make mistakes, we ordinary mortals are more than capable. Anyone who doubts that need only look at some of my games on CG! |

| Jun-24-15 | | Sniffles: Consider this. At 15... Rf6 Fischer saw that he could control that side of the board. All he needed was to advance his pawn on g5 to take control. At 17...Rg6 he knew he had complete control and had calculated the various moves he would have to put his knights through. At 19... Pg4 he had won the game. If Korchnoi had been awake he would have resigned at that point. As Fischer noted 21 Rf3 was weird and the end of the game. The irony came in at 21...Rh6. In appearance, a superficial feint. In actuality, Fischer was just giving the second knight room to move. Knights and Rook in a complex dance. |
