May-31-09 | | DaveyL: If they played a 1 min game would it be Duhm Duhm Bullet? |
Jun-03-09 | | I Like Fish: they rilly played...
in another duhmension... |
Aug-08-09 | | markofthemushroom: This one kills me. Mate by pawn to h3. |
Jun-05-12 | | Whitehat1963: Wow! What a game! |
Jan-14-13
 | | FSR: Black's play was, um, not too intelligent. |
Jul-28-15 | | jith1207: All the game, Black was in Duhlemma. |
May-26-16 | | andrewjsacks: Pun well done. |
May-26-16 | | jith1207: There are always games Duhm a Duhzen waiting to be christenduhmed for this pun. |
May-26-16 | | morfishine: The German pronounciation of 'Duhm' is 'Doom'
But that works too!
***** |
May-26-16 | | thegoodanarchist: Of course in Switzerland this game is known as <The Pearl of Basel> |
May-26-16
 | | Honza Cervenka: 9...Ncxd4 was a mistake. Instead of that 9...Nxe5 looks viable. |
May-26-16
 | | dorsnikov: Duhm da duhm dhum , Duhm da duhm duhm ... DHUM !!
Opening music from 1950's Dragnet show. |
May-26-16 | | The Kings Domain: Nice game, and one of the best miniatures. Certainly the pun is an amusing tribute to the irony of the unfortunately-named combatants and their entertaining game. :-) |
May-26-16
 | | OhioChessFan: Again, as enticing as it was, the pun was a mistake. CG.C, you've again crossed the line between having fun with a name and making fun of a name. |
May-26-16 | | thegoodanarchist: 17.h3# is a dual-purpose move. In addition to delivering checkmate, it also provides luft for the White King. |
May-26-16 | | yadasampati: Pawn mates are my favorite! David defeats Goliath :-) |
May-26-16 | | catlover: I don't know what's more fun—the pun or the game. |
May-26-16 | | ajile: <OhioChessFan: Again, as enticing as it was, the pun was a mistake. CG.C, you've again crossed the line between having fun with a name and making fun of a name.> You are joking right? |
May-26-16 | | jith1207: <thegoodanarchist>: What do we need a luft for, when you are checkmating that move!? May be, am I missing anything here? <OhioChessFan>: Not long ago, you were debating with another kibitzer here for making persistent compliant about a pun against the CG.COM and that kibitzer here has become a cooler customer day by day but see where you are. I understand your sentiment, and sometimes feel that too, but why laboring so much pain over the pun? |
May-27-16 | | kevin86: Both sides "win the queen"; but white wins the king as well. |
Feb-04-19
 | | Telemus: I found another game Duhm vs Duhm played in 1921. What will happen to this search http://www.chessgames.com/perl/ches..., if it is added? Well, we'll get four, I think. |
Dec-20-20
 | | Korora: When I saw the game in an Opening Disasters collection, somehow I just knew that if it had ever been GotD it would have that pun. |
Dec-20-20
 | | perfidious: Then there is the possibility of Dumas vs Dumas..... |
Dec-21-20
 | | fredthebear: They's a bunch o' folk playin' down at Dumas Walkers' joint: https://www.bing.com/search?q=Dumas... I wouldn't call it a coffeehouse, but think of it as you will. Reminds me of a big chess tournament I once played in...Chicago, or was it Denver? Big, fancy hotel w/chalet service and a swanky piano bar. Next door to our playing hall, a live band kicks in. Yep, we're playing rated tournament chess for big cash prizes next door to a wedding reception. The band played on, and so did we. I heard the punch was pretty good. |
