Aug-07-14  Whitehat1963: <MarkFinan>, that's a very good candidate! Thanks! Others, anyone?
Aug-07-14  Whitehat1963: I'm no expert, but I think these are pretty remarkable:

Topalov vs Kramnik, 2008

R Cifuentes vs V Zvjaginsev, 1995

Kupreichik vs Tal, 1970

Tal vs Geller, 1958

Tal vs Miller, 1988

Topalov vs Anand, 2005

Kasparov vs Topalov, 1999

Aug-07-14  FairyPromotion: <Whitehat1963> Very interesting question! Though it penalizes miniatures a bit, I would like to see what other members think as well.

The first game that immediately came to my mind was Serper vs I Nikolaidis, 1993, and as far as exclamations by single side are concerned I think it should be tough to beat.

As for both sides filling the game with exclamations and double exclamations I'd say A Volokitin vs Mamedyarov, 2012 takes the cake.

If you want to have a look at the draws as well, then Anand vs Topalov, 2005 is the obvious choice.

Aug-08-14  Whitehat1963: This one has some pretty jaw-dropping moves:

Geller vs Karpov, 1976

Aug-08-14  Whitehat1963: I don't know how good it is on both sides, but for sheer entertainment value, it's hard to beat this gem, one of my all-time favorites:

Marshall vs G Marco, 1904

Aug-09-14  Whitehat1963: And here's one more:

Capablanca vs Marshall, 1918

AylerKupp: <plang>, <Jim Bartle>, <Wyatt Gwyon>, <perfidious> Don’t you all know by now that <Conrad93> is a classic troll and is only saying things this to get a rise out of you? And this time he apparently succeeded.

Remember: Don't feed the trolls.

Sep-02-14  Petrosianic: What's a Classic Troll, exactly? One who only trolls at 45/2 speed or slower?
Sep-02-14  zanzibar: <Petrosianic> 9600baud - if you're odd enough to remember!
Oct-19-14  Ke2: <Conrad93> Lolololol this troll account is fantastic
Aug-09-15  Raaj Dey: Shirov's 47. ....Bh3!! was just the brillancy...that I became one of his fan. Its a 3400elo move.
Aug-22-15  Imran Iskandar: <Whitehat1963> This game is one of my all-time favorites.

Morozevich vs M Vachier-Lagrave, 2009

Although there are some mistakes, both sides played brilliantly, and in my opinion it was chess at its most entertaining as well as mind-boggling.

Alex Schindler: Holy cow! I didn't think i could still be surprised by Shirov's endgames til I came across this one. What incredible grasp of the position!
Nov-12-15  paavoh: And this has never been a GOTD! Can you believe it??

sleepyirv: <paavoh> It needs a good pun! I suggest a reference to Thomas Becket: "Will no one rid me of this troublesome priest?"
Jan-07-16  WDenayer: 47. ... Bh3 is a fantastic move. Utterly fantastic.
Jan-12-16  scholes: One of the best moves in history. And not even game of the day.
Mar-14-16  kevin86: Black gives up his bishop do double the adverse pawns so that he could push the queen side pawns through.
Mar-14-16  RTJR: 47...Bh3!!! is the single-greatest move ever played in the history of chess.

The fact that Shirov found that over the board demonstrates a stunning mastery of in-the-moment analysis.

perfidious: Topalov gets a full on meeting with the late, great Amarillo Slim's <Mr More>, courtesy of the elegant 47....Bh3.
Mar-14-16  RTJR: Topalov's claim to fame is being fodder for other player's immortal games.

Kasparov's Immortal, Karpov's Immortal, and this game from Shirov, all of which find Topalov sitting on the losing end.

Thank you Topalov for helping to create some of greatest games ever played ;-)
