Sep-13-14  kevin86: The position is so desperate that even a second queen couldn't save black.
Sep-13-14  posoo: LOL porfoodes, DATS da way you dress down a pun monger. Lol "pathetic" HOHOHOHO people

Joshka: Korchnoi was born just 5 days before Lein in the same city. They must have know each other growing up through the chess ranks? Only a few games in this database, but for heavens sake they must have played hundreds!!
Sep-13-14  morfishine: <perfidious> Unlike the person that submitted this pun or the people that voted for this pun, I did my homework and went straight to a site for pronouncing names: http://www.pronouncenames.com/searc...

Here, it claims Lein is pronounced 'lien' (or mean, etc.)

Of course sites may not be comprehensive enough with regards to dialects or regions. For now, I have to agree with the site in that Lein is pronounced 'lean'

<posoo> Do your homework before you open your fat mouth

Annie K.: <morphishine> Lein is pronounced Lane, because Anatoly Lein is Russian. This is from your own link:

Type of Name: First Name
Gender: Female
Origin: Chinese

So: not <Russian last name>. There's a bit of a difference. And for the record, this pun is Daniel's, but he actually checked the pronunciation with me first. :)

Sep-13-14  posoo: Lol murfos, did u think Anatoly was a Chinese girl??? And dat her last name was actually her first name? "homework" loltatious!!

Posoo dos have a fat mouth tho, and right now it is wide open to lol!

Sep-13-14  posoo: Da final blow:

Sep-13-14  Xeroxx: Janez Barlecorn Must Die.
Sep-13-14  BOSTER: It's difficult to loose the game when you have queen and rook vs knight and couple pawns, even when your king is naked.

<kevin 86: The pos. is so desperate that even a second queen could noy save black >. After 31...Qa6 (diagram) white can resign.

But if you want you can play couples checks.

Sep-13-14  WJW147: The game is entertaining. The above comments are priceless!
Sep-13-14  Howard: Well, if you'd like, you may thank me for nominating it as GOTD. That's right---I nominated it just the other day.
Sep-13-14  zavariz: Two Queens is a bigamy,
Sep-13-14  Granny O Doul: Anatoly's "Lein" has always been pronounced like the English world "lane" (or "lain"). In another language than Russian, it might rhyme with "green" but I seriously doubt it would be pronounced "green" in any language yet invented.
Sep-13-14  DanielBryant: A sparkler! I'd never seen this game before. Good choice for GOTD.
Sep-13-14  belgradegambit: Of course this pun was used earlier L Ogaard vs J D Tisdall, 1987

tpstar: This game is brutally handsome.
Sep-13-14  IPrometheus: I always heard it pronounced "lane", and he was known affectionately as Anatoly "Deep Drag" Lein, for his long, deep drags from his cigarettes. His level of play dropped dramatically, to the point where 2200's and 2300's were beating him fairly easily (in recent years).
Sep-13-14  NBAFan: Way to go Anatoly Lein! 83 years old, still active :)
Sep-14-14  SuperPatzer77: : If Lein is a German name, it should be pronounced as Lahyn - it sounds like "line". However we know that Anatoly Lein is Russian.

Bubo bubo: Tim Hardings's "Better Chess for the Average Player" features another game where White attacks on the k-side, while Black promotes his a-pawn:

Unfortunately, the book only gives the finish, and it does not provide the name of the players. Anyone here who recognizes the game?
