Phony Benoni: A standard mating attack. Just centralize your pieces.

  FSR: Reminiscent of Wiede vs A Goetz, 1880 and the helpmate 1.e4 Nf6 2.Qe2 Nxe4 3.f3 Ng3 4.Qxe7+ Qxe7 5.Kf2 Nxh1#.

perfidious: Black came to Greeff very quickly after being forced to cede the guardian of her dark squares.

GrahamClayton: Unusual to see two different White pieces end up on the h8-square.

Phony Benoni: <FSR? Another famous example is W Potter vs Matthews, 1868. Here are a few others:

Abdulrahman A Masrahi vs O Croes, 2016

H Reinle vs Lange, 1936

T Moore vs NN, 1989

S Sokolov vs I Semenov, 1987

Morphy vs Le Carpentier, 1849

Jan-01-18  dumbgai: It’s kind of inspiring to know that you can be as bad as black and still get to play in the olympiad.
Jan-01-18  sfm: If you have students and want to explain about 'the dangers of not castling in time' you can use the position after 25.-,Ke8.
Jan-01-18  morfishine: Really pathetic play by Black, this game is not worthy of the title 'GOTD' (supposedly Game of the Day...Laugh Out Loud)

An Englishman: Good Afternoon: The Exchange Variation killed my interest in Alekhine's Defense. White seems to retain a small space and mobility advantage, while Black doesn't gain enough counterplay.

FSR: <Phony Benoni> I had no idea that N(x)h8# was such a common thing!
