Aug-13-07  pawnofdoom: I think this is Magnus Carlsen 's sister. She's not as good as him, only being rated 1059, I think, but she had a pretty impressive upset victory here: E Norbakken vs I Carlsen, 2007
Aug-13-07  Gegga: Yes, she is Magnus' sister...
Aug-13-07  Gegga: I don't know why you call it a "upset victory". Eirik ended up as number 96 out of 99 players, with 2/9.
Aug-13-07  Karpova: She was born in 1994 and here are some pictures (and she really bears a slight resemblance to Magnus):

She had a pretty good result at the Arctic Chess Challenge 2007 with 3 points and a 87th place. Her performance was 1595. http://www.arcticchess.org/engindex...

Aug-13-07  cotdt: so she played +500 points above her rating, not bad at all! at this rate, maybe she'll beat magnus one day...

alexmagnus: So, we have games by Magnus, Henrik and Ingrid in this database. Remain Ellen and Signe (though I don't know if Signe Carlsen plays chess at all).
Oct-30-07  Udit Narayan: Maybe one day she will be as strong as her brother!!!

<Karpova> thanks for the pictures.

Jan-20-08  simsan: <Chessgames.com>: Strictly speaking, none of these games belong here on the Chessgames site. I guess the only reason that they ended up here is because she has erroneously been mixed up with her brother.

I though the games listed should include at least one fairly strong player.

Her rating is stated as 2710 in a couple of the games :-)

Aug-03-08  DeltaHawk: You can see her play on facebook. You can sign up there and add the application Live Chess and if you're really lucky, you can play against her. She shows up quite rarely.

lostemperor: Three years ago I saw Magnus with his sister. I don't think it is Ingrid Oen though because she looked older with dark hair. Is there a Carlsen family picture link somewhere?

alexmagnus: I just noticed that she will play in the world U14 championship... Did she qualify or is it kind of a nice gesture of the Norwegian chess federation?:)

alexmagnus: Hm, looks like she did qualify - she is the only Norwegian in this age section, at least going by current (not yet complete) list of participants...

  alexmagnus: And it's finished...Ingrid ended up 60th of 78 participants, with 4.5/9.
Oct-30-08  yxcvbnm: ok including such games is really really poor. honestly.
Jan-03-09  Karpova: <lostemperor: Three years ago I saw Magnus with his sister. I don't think it is Ingrid Oen though because she looked older with dark hair. Is there a Carlsen family picture link somewhere?>

There's also Ellen Oen Carlsen:

May-07-09  waustad: Her rating is now up to 1504.
Feb-02-10  KingG: She has a very impressive opening repertoire considering her rating.
Nov-09-14  John Abraham: The resemblance to Magnus is striking!
