Veniamin Innokentevich Sozin was born in 1896 in Russia. He specialized in openings and around 1930 advocated a variation of the Sicilian (B20) Defence first analyzed by Paul Saladin Leonhardt before the First World War and later made popular by Robert James Fischer in the 1950's and 60's.

Oct-17-06  piroflip: amusing though, that a game played
twelve years before Bobby was born
has an opening named after him.
Jun-04-07  timhortons: id go over the games and there was no game ever won by sozin on sicilian sozin attack....fischer did polish it....castling on queenside and his sac on castled black h file...his notable games was played as black piece player...seems he was not successfull with the attack attributed to him
