Mar-16-11  wordfunph: R.E. Fauber --- author of the hard-to-find book "Impact of Genius - 500 Years of Grandmaster Chess"..

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...

Jan-17-23  Caissanist: Batgirl (aka User: SBC) gives a few biographical notes on Fauber and an excerpt from his book, in what appears to have been her last ever chess history article: https://www.chess.com/forum/view/co... .
Jan-18-23  stone free or die: <Caissanist> just curious, how did you determine that it was her last, to date... ?

I find it a bit confusing keeping track of all her contributions - scattered, and imprecisely indexed as they are over on <chess.com>.

Aside - her Fauber article isn't really a "full-scale" article is it?

Also - I see she's put the cryptic "Carrying a knife in my back...." tag on her profile page. It shows up on 2021-03-05 for the first time on Wayback.

Any idea what the story is?

Thx.

Jan-18-23  Caissanist: Supposedly she said that she will never again post a chess history article on that site. I'm guessing that has something to do with the knife-in-the-back thing, but who knows really.
Jan-19-23  stone free or die: Thanks <Caissanist>.

I've been looking into the timeline of her work over on <chess.com>. A bit tangled, made somewhat more confusing from the fact I rarely use <chess.com>.

I might post a little bit more about her work over on the Bistro later. Thanks again.

Jan-29-23  Caissanist: I've since gotten a message from her, confirming that she hasn't posted any chess history articles there March 2021, and does not intend to ever do so again. She still posts a lot of chess history tidbits on Facebook.

Ask and ye shall know. If she declines to answer, that will be an answer, still.

Jan-30-23  Caissanist: Well, let's just say that she no longer considers Chess.com to be the right platform for her writing.
Dec-02-23  stone free or die: Continuing the <batgirl> digression-

Prompted by <Caissanist>'s comment I went looking for other sites where <batgirl> may be continuing her writing.

It looks bleak, I'm not sure she's doing any chess history writing anymore (I'd love to be wrong).

Perhaps this letter of thanks in <The Chess Journalist (May 2023) p4> is the most recent online sighting:
