GrahamClayton: Here is nice finish by Carlos Paglilla, playing White against Carbone in Buenos Aires, 1985

White played the brilliant ♕a8!!, stopping the threat of ...♖d1 due to the pin of the rook. If Black plays ...♖a8, White plays fe7 followed by ♖d8+.

perfidious: Clever and far from obvious.
Jun-08-24  vonKrolock: <"Today,"> July 28th 2021 <"at the age of 67, International Master Carlos Emilio Paglilla, one of the most beloved persónalities in the national chess environment, has left us too early. In addition to his sporting memories, the image of the legendary gatherings of the Argentine Chess Club remains in the memory of many. In the existing living room on the first floor of the club, any early morning hour was a good time to find several well-known Buenos Aires chess players vehemently debating any serious or absurd topic. And in those famous meetings the inevitable figure was that of the "Bear" Paglilla. Perhaps somewhere in another dimension those meetings continue to be held today, and thus Samuel Schweber, Luis Bronstein or "Duck" Giardelli will be receiving the beloved Bear once again."> (to be continued...)
Jun-08-24  vonKrolock: ... <"And to close, the M.I. Herman Van Riemsdijk brings us the final instance of the Carlos Paglilla – José María Carbone game, in 1985. Perhaps the solution is not difficult, but it also reveals the profound talent of this master who has just left us.">

Fusilli: <vonKrolock> Thank you for reporting that. I did not realize he had died.
Jun-09-24  vonKrolock: <Fusilli> My intention was to bring some more information about him here to this forum. Unfortunately the news are not good... Beautiful tribute by Enrique Arguiñariz, text reproduced in Club Argentino de Ajedrez official Facebook page.
