  GrahamClayton: Along with his multiple Nebraska state titles, Ludwig was also Omaha state champion in 1941, 1944, 1945, 1948, 1949 and 1951.

Ludwig also won the 2nd division of the 1945 US Open in Peoria, Illinois, with a score of 9.5-1.5.

  GrahamClayton: Ludwig also won the 1945 CCLA Grand National tournament, giving him the title of US Correspondence Chess Champion.

According to the "Omaha World-Herald", Ludwig stated that he spent over $100 in postage during the course of the tournament, which concluded in 1950.
