CHESSGAMES - BEER

[what is this?]

Beer is believed to be over 10,000 years old. Although no one knows its exact origins, some agricultural historians believe that the first beer may have been produced accidentally when a stash of grain was soaked by rain and then warmed by the sun. If this mixture were spontaneously fermented by wild, airborne yeast—which thrives in just these warm, moist conditions—beer would have been produced (Encarta).

Fermented beverages have been preferred over water throughout the ages: they are safer, provide psychotropic effects, and are more nutritious. Some have even said alcohol was the primary agent for the development of Western civilization, since more healthy individuals (even if inebriated much of the time) lived longer and had greater reproductive success.   TheAlchemist: <WannaBe> What are you saying? That "I´m a genie in a bottle, you gotta rub me the right way"? :-)

Oct-20-05  jperr75108: I
Love
Beer
Oct-20-05  Steppenwolf: Beer is about the worst you could drink if you want to win at chess. Beer is for weaklings with a love for their fat bellies. Just the opposite of the "lean and mean" attitude you need to be a winner. I suspect kibbitzers drink a lot of beer but good chess players don't.

tpstar: Yo <hintza>! You must test out this new FEN feature where you can put real diagrams in your posts.

But not too much Beer on a school night. ;>D

Oct-20-05  hintza: <tpstar> Long time no see, well not see but I'm sure you get me! FEN feature? Am I imagining this?

Oh my...
Words fail me! Well, aside from "White to play and win". ;-)

And yes, no drinking on a school night :-) especially not while filling out the all-important University Admissions form...

:-)

Oct-21-05  schnarre: <hintza> Been a while there! Good to see you again!

Though I'm probably too brain-dead from too much Molson (BEER, gotta have it), I like Kb3 for White in this position (...Ka5, Bc4+ Kb6, Kxb4 with the a-pawn next).

CHEERS!

Oct-21-05  TheSlid: <hintza> what a great feature. The boys in the Cafe can have a field day!

In you position, surely white can win fairly trivially?

Oct-21-05  Steppenwolf: Chancho,
LOL
I never said I was good at chess. And you can't play poker without something to lift your mind.

Oct-21-05  Akavall: <hintza> What's the problem? I think just about anything wins...
Oct-21-05  hintza: <TheSlid, Akavall> Well, the point is 1.Kd3 Kb5 2.Kd4 a5 3.Bc4+ Kb6 4.Bb3 Kb5 5.Ba4+ Kxa4 6.Kc4 b3 7.axb3#
Oct-21-05  John Abraham: I can't believe this. I guess I'll have a beer now.
