CHESSGAMES - BEER

[what is this?]

Beer is believed to be over 10,000 years old. Although no one knows its exact origins, some agricultural historians believe that the first beer may have been produced accidentally when a stash of grain was soaked by rain and then warmed by the sun. If this mixture were spontaneously fermented by wild, airborne yeast—which thrives in just these warm, moist conditions—beer would have been produced (Encarta).

Fermented beverages have been preferred over water throughout the ages: they are safer, provide psychotropic effects, and are more nutritious. Some have even said alcohol was the primary agent for the development of Western civilization, since more healthy individuals (even if inebriated much of the time) lived longer and had greater reproductive success. Sep-12-07  schnarre: <Annie K> Something like this perchance, M'Lady: ...Bxb5+, cxb5 axb5#

...the Russian conspirators probably ran low on vodka so they put it on the Beer page (serves 'em right, eh?! lol)

Annie K.: Yep, either Bxb5+ first and mate with the pawn or axb5+ first and mate with the Bishop will work; starting with the Bishop is more elegant. :)

But <schnarre> I am not, as far as I know, a member of the British aristocracy! ;)

P.S. - I also continue to deny being Bobby Fischer. :p

Sep-18-07  whiteshark: I'd rather have a bottle in front o' me than a frontal lobotomy.
Sep-18-07  whiskeyrebel: I drink, therefore I am.
Sep-19-07  whiskeyrebel: You on the other hand don't drink...therefore you AREN'T.
Sep-25-07  schnarre: <I drink, therefore I am.>

*intones Beer prayer of some time ago* (forget how many posts that was ago).

Sep-27-07  whiskeyrebel: Drink to forget...but don't forget to drink.

WannaBe: <Youjoin> Read your message, don't know how much pain I caused, because I felt most of my moves are patzer-like.

SwitchingQuylthulg: <WannaBe> Yes. You have caused <me> a lot of pain. I keep an eye on your game against <Youjoin> and see you making patzer moves over there and then you come back to the other board, where you're playing me, and make master class moves... It's so unfair it could drive me an alcoholic.

WannaBe: <SwitchingQuylthulg> With our game, the current position, I just don't know what to do...

Good thing I have 2 days left on my clock. I have started another one with <Youjoin>, glutton for punishment, that I am. =)

Oct-03-07  porgue: <<whiteshark: <technical draw <Analyze this>> First I fed the anagraminator, than it's <Saintly haze>, which sounds like a name of a beer. But how to proceed ...? skoal!> Sounds like a satisfactory solution! ;)>

SwitchingQuylthulg: Actually, <WannaBe> didn't play too badly against me. In hindsight, the big blunder is 12.f4 - he shouldn't have stopped following Junior vs Akopian, 2000 :)
