Joshka: Sometimes incidents like this can bring some interest to chess, cause the ingredients are there, pretty gal, fists thrown cause of her, jealousy, but it's still a shame that when reporters start looking into who's running the world chess seen, they here about FIDE, then this leads to the criminal Kirsan. Maybe some young investigative reporter would want to make a name for himself, especially if they read about what happened to that last gal reporter who the folks at FIDE felt she was getting a little too nosey;-)
Jun-08-06  dakgootje: Wasnt loituma also from Finland? =P
Jun-08-06  Dres1: Not so deep thought... you are right, this girl is much hotter than Anna Kournikova!
Jun-08-06  jahhaj: If you are trying to make your living as a middle ranking GM, living with your parents seems like a reasonable option.
Jun-08-06  jahhaj: Will be interesting to see if Nigel Short has anything to say about this, since he's already had a go at Danny in his last Guardian coloumn.
Jun-08-06  jahhaj: Well here it is. Danny gets only a brief mention.

jaime gallegos: maybe he belongs to the club of AspergerĀ“s syndrome patients .... :(
Jun-08-06  acirce: <jaime gallegos> What do you mean? Why should he have Asperger's?
Jun-08-06  notsodeepthought: <Dres1: Not so deep thought... you are right, this girl is much hotter than Anna Kournikova!>

Yeah, right...

Jun-08-06  Marmot PFL: <Expect a defamation lawsuit to be filed by Anna Kournikova against the Telegraph any minute. I mean, Caoili is cute, but any comparison with Kournikova is laughable.>

Maybe they mean she has never won anything. Overall my first impression of the Telegraph is tabloid journalism.

Jun-08-06  independentthinker: If Gormally and Aronian decided to settle this man-to-man in a straight fight, who do you think would win?

Jun-08-06  pawn to QB4: Hey, at last I score a successful prediction: <you'll enjoy Danny Gormally, an uncompromising attacker>: got that in on May 31 so well done, c4. Next bit I predicted England would do well so not the next Nostradamus. Straight fight? Gormally: you've got to be very drunk to launch unprovoked attacks against people who'll clobber you...well, such is my experience of chess in the North of England.
Jun-08-06  independentthinker: Gormally should make the most out of this - become a reality TV guy - go on Big Brother - have a few punch ups while unsuccessfully trying to pull some unkown super model.

And as for that chick - have u seen her? OMG - she only looks attactive because in evry photo she surrounds herself with ugly men.

Jun-08-06  pawn to QB4: Now that really is independent thought: <she only looks attactive because in evry photo she surrounds herself with ugly men>. My workmates have seen the story and have a new respect for the chess scene: "wow, is she a chess master?" was one muggle's comment. My wife's with you on the ugly men though: unless Kramnik or Adams is on the cover I have to hide chess magazines or listen to withering scorn about the ugliness of chess players generally.

LIFE Master AJ: Some guys like the dark looks, in one publicity photo, there is a striking resemblence to Tia C.
Jun-09-06  mack: <If Gormally and Aronian decided to settle this man-to-man in a straight fight, who do you think would win?>

Gormally, every time.

Jun-09-06  whiskeyrebel: we're not talking about some teen-trauma TV show here; a 30 year old guy (Gormally) should know better than to throw down over an "email" relationship. They weren't fighting over the hottie...there's no indication Aronion had anything in mind except a @#$*ing dance. Please don't lump him in with the loser rum rookie Gormally.
Jun-09-06  independentthinker: Ok, what if it was a one-off chess game? Winner gets the girl.

Aronian would be the favourite, but maybe Gormally wants it more?

Jun-09-06  independentthinker: Last time they D Gormally vs Aronian, 2000 Gormally was powering into a good position. But then the match ended abruptly when an "Armenian Chess Gang" rushed Gormally, leaving him hospitalised. England may have itsyob culture, but at least we don't have chess gangs roaming the streets, thank the lord.
Jun-09-06  pawn to QB4: Dunno about that. I was playing in a 10 minute competition in Bolton, kicked off by the organiser saying "Now this is just a bit of fun, don't take it too seriously". A few minutes later one chap (rated 2150ish) resigned in traditional style by sweeping the pieces off his board and the next two, and storming out without a word. Cheers to my opponent for reminding me about the bishop on h3 as I reset the position. Just your typical day in English chess.
Jun-09-06  independentthinker: Wow - that's crazy? Who are these losers. Why do they get so upset?

Jun-09-06  pawn to QB4: I'd give the site his name but I've asked nicer people to leave our night shelter for lowering the tone. Plus I'm staying anonymous myself. The basic point is that these Armenians might be better players than us English, but...hang on, that's the point of playing chess isn't it?

  IMlday: England's disappointing 19th-place finish
may be related to having a neanderthal/bozo/bouncer type fellow on the lower boards. A gentleman~any gentleman~ would have been less distracting for sure.
