PRONUNCIATION:
[what is this?]

International Master (2013); Grandmaster (2015).

Jinshi Bai's IM norms were won at the First Saturday Tournament in Budapest in April 2013 and at the Asian Continental Championship in Manila in May 2013, the latter counting as a double norm because of its continental status. He was the 3rd IM born in 1999 after (now GM) Wei Yi and Murali Karthikeyan. He took his first GM norm at the World Junior Championship (2014), the 2nd at the Brambles GM in London 2014, and the 3rd at Boeblinger Open (2014). (1)

Feb-29-16  arifattar: In the olden times, it was common to find the term 'bai' added to first names of women in India. I thought this was some sari-clad woman challenging some Brit chess players in colonial India.
Jan-04-17  Birthday Boy: <1/3/2017 – Sergey Tiaviakov and Jinshi Bai both played solid, strong chess at the Chess Festival Groningen and after 9 nine rounds, in which both scored five wins and four draws, they both finished with 7.0/9, sharing first place. The tie-break had to decide. And here the young Chinese won by a very narrow margin. >
