moronovich: <Chessgames Bookie> I have an idea for a new game:
All chessplayers are concerned about ratings. And so are the fans.

What about a game,a contest, were it is about finding those players who make the biggest jump forwards in the ratings?

A model could be : each on CG.com(who would like to paticipate) chose 1o players from 10 ratingplataues . One from the # 1 spot to # 10. One from # 11 to # 21 and so forth, untill # 101. After a ½ year or perhaps 1 the winner is the CG"gambler" who has colected the largest sum in total. The largest sum of rating; all players score put together. Also those with minusscore (which shall be deducted,of course)will also count. The game and the actual chosen ratinglist should be announced in due time, off course. So no bucks, odds, involved.Simply a pool of interested CGplayers who before a given date will deliver a list of 10 players, which is their best shot. I find the idea to good not to be mentioned. But what do you guys think !?

Chnebelgrind: Thanks all for the good wishes.

<Looking forward to winners speach!> Probably that honor is due to <Barok> (if he hasn't lost 7000 cb today, what I don't hope)

My final score: 72000.

Speeded up by <wordfunph> I risked a lot this days and was lucky first. But today I lost all my tickets.

I enjoyed the rivalry. For the balance I await the final standings.

Mar-25-10  technical draw: This has been such a great experience. I have learned a lot about betting in this gambling simulation game. I thank the admins for running such a fine game and to the winners go my congratulations. I just have one final word: Aarrrgghh!! , why am I such a loser!! ???

The problem isn't your bets, it's the results.

Mar-25-10  technical draw: Well, I am no longer a loser. Going through some old passports I found $35. Yep, 35 smackaroos. Found money, that's the best kind!

Special thanks to <Barok Espinosa> for not only winning the Winter Leg Championship but also the very first to break the $75K threshhold! :^)

Mar-25-10  Barok Espinosa: And finally... it's over!

Definitely a very exciting game with lots of twist and turn. Always true to the saying that, "it ain't over until it's over or 'til the loanshark comes looking for his due."

Thanks to all well-wishers.

Am looking forward to the next contest. I am very much eager to apply another strategy, that is, 'control betting with favorable dividend,' displayed by two of the big boys of this game - <Chnebelgrind> and <moronovich>.

The 'no-fear and all out' betting strategy I did in the third to the last round was stolen from <SwitchingQ>. And it really made the difference going to the penultimate round with $17K to spare.

For Pick 3, I still adhere to the strategy of my mentors <wordfunph> and <Bradah>.

Thanks <TD>, <OD>, <zanshin>, <ROADDOG>, <eternaloptimist>, <malthrope>, <SQ>, <word>, <Bradah>, <moronovich>, <Chnebelgrind>, and all other competitors...

More power CG.com!!!

Mar-26-10  zanshin: Very exciting contest, especially among <Barok> <Chnebelgrind> and <moronovich>. And pretty decent prizes too - congrats to all the winners.

Chnebelgrind: Congratulations to the new ChessBookie Champion of the World <Barok Espinosa> for his well-deserved win. That the same player wins not only the fall leg but also the final shows that the chessbookie game is not only a game of luck but demands quite a lot of skill. Congratulations also to <moronovich> and the other winners and thanks to <chessgames bookie> for the perfect set-up of the game.

And congratulations to <Barok Espinoza> for a very deserved place in the hall of fame. You were a tough nut to crack in the period we were more or less side by side,5 weeks, was it ? ,and often when I advanced, you simply advanced more @#$%* :).And finally you just left, without asking. But then <Chnelbegrind> came almost like a bolt from the blue and secured it all ended in a nailbitting twohorserace. What a finish! So congrats to you too <Chnelbegrind>.Perhaps just a single move away from # 1 spot!?...

See you all at the next contest.

Chessgames Bookie: <<Bookie> Who had the highest credit rating? Or is that information top secret?>

During legs it is top secret but between legs we don't mind showing. The top four credit ratings:

Barok Espinosa had a credit score of 632,259
SwitchingQuylthulg was at 582,137
wallytherhino was at 212,677
Chnebelgrind was at 203,224

Mind you, when a score becomes that large, they are simply allowed to take out huge loans and bets for 10,000 chessbucks, and further increases in the credit score hardly matter.

You achieve a large credit score by (1) making bets, (2) paying back loans.

Note that your credit score goes down when you actually take out a loan--so it's the paying back (with interest) that helps your rating. While that helps, the best way to raise your score is to actually win bets.

Mar-26-10  wordfunph: <CG Bookie> my shirt size is XL..thanks! :-0
Mar-26-10  SloVice: Congrats to <Barok Espinosa>! Nice win with a new record, trouncing the old mark.

And congratulations to the other top-10 finishers. A fine effort by <Chnebelgrind> to try to steal the victory.
