Mar-11-16  Touch of Knight: Substantial betting on Hou - Muzychuk! Good to see that the women are not ignored when the Candidates Tournament is running in parallel.

Chessgames Bookie: Yes judging from the betting <Touch of Knight> the ladies are getting plenty of support & that is a good thing to see.
Mar-11-16  wallytherhino: As of right now their is 10 hours until the bets close:

CB Count: 626596
CB Wagered: 62454
% CB in bets: 9.96%

Prediction (the total pool will 50% bigger in 10 hours): CB Count: 626596
CB Wagered: 93681
% CB in bets: 14.95%

Will having roughly 10% of available CB funds in bets push the top 10 players to push their bets onto the field?

Mar-11-16  wallytherhino: Reykjavik Open Round 6: Mamedyarov - G. Jones

Currently has 150 CB in it's pool with 10 hours left to go.

According to the historical record both men are tied against each other 1 win - 1 loss - 1 draw.

The rating difference of 102 points does not mean as much as it normally does in these type of matches.

Gawain Jones (2645)
Shakhriyar Mamedyarov (2747)

Chessgames Bookie: You were pretty close on your prediction
(the total pool will 50% bigger in 10 hours) <wallytherhino>. The total chessbucks bet was around 96,000. You predicted 93,681 that's pretty close. ;)

Penguincw: Wow, for World Chess Candidates Tournament Round 4 (Caruana - Topalov): OVER/UNDER, there are exactly 3,756 cbs placed for over and under. :p

Premium Chessgames Member
Chessgames Bookie: Yeah that surprised me too <Penguincw>. I thought they would have bet more on the under. I tried to reel in some fish but they didn't bite. ;)
Mar-17-16  wallytherhino: The over under is a tricky bet from the player perspective.

I always check the player history and tournament record. The fuzzy issue is the gray zone between 35-40. There are games where the lines follow past move 40, but many players are motivated by different reasons to play.

The first couple rounds over seems to be a good pick because they are all fighting for first or second blood.

The last couple of rounds there are many gentlemen draws to avoid a GM who has 2 losses from dropping way too many rating points, and a leader who wants to draw out to win by a close margin. The only exception to this rule is a young (early stage) Carlsen.

Mar-18-16  WinKing: <wallytherhino: The over under is a tricky bet from the player perspective.>

The over/under is tricky from the Bookie perspective as well <wallytherhino>. Let's face it there is no exact science to coming up with these #'s. I will look at player's tendencies from past games & try to come up with what I think will happen. So many factors the Opening, the match-up(players), past history, the situation(where are they in the standings). You yourself named a few. Make no mistake I will try to bait the bettor in one direction or the other. It is up to you to figure out which path I am trying to get you to go down. ;)

Chessgames Bookie: I have accidentally paid the UNDER on the
Anand-Aronian game. I have notified <chessgames> to correct it & pay the OVER on that bet. Sorry for the mistake.
Mar-21-16  centralfiles: Thanks Bookie I see your on it already.
I got scared my hot streak was over.
Mar-21-16  TheFocus: <Chessgames Bookie: I have accidentally paid the UNDER on the Anand-Aronian game. I have notified <chessgames> to correct it & pay the OVER on that bet. Sorry for the mistake.>

I accidentally discarded mine. I bet OVER ($100).

I'm pretty sure when <chessgames> corrects the problem all will good <Focus>. I don't think it matters if you cashed it in or not.

Mar-21-16  TheFocus: <Chessgames.Bookie> thanks. I thought I had tossed it away.
Mar-21-16  centralfiles: BTW when does the leg end?

Chessgames Bookie: <centralfiles: BTW when does the leg end?>

I'm pretty sure April 28th <centralfiles>. We started late & will finish late. That is the date that we agreed on when I talked to <chessgames>. Gives you guys plenty of time to accumulate lots of chessbucks! ;)

The Spring leg will be a shorter one than normal as a result.
