 | | Domdaniel: <waustad> Having looked it up, I see that Myagmarsuren did indeed play Fischer: Fischer vs Myagmarsuren, 1967 Tumurbator played Spassky, but not Fischer. |

 | | Domdaniel: And Batchimeg is none other than Tuvshintugs Batchimeg. |

Dec-14-14
 | | Domdaniel: <Thanh Phan> -- < The only time I find clues are when I'm almost asleep or almost awake> I'm starting to think that I'm always either almost asleep or almost awake... full consciousness does not come by very often. |
|
Dec-14-14
 | | Annie K.: 'Chimi' is Batchimeg's nickname, I saw that in an article some years ago. :) 'The other one' is a good name for the other one. ;s |
|
Dec-14-14
 | | Annie K.: Whose actual name is - IIRC - Bathuyag Munguntuul or something like that... |
|
Dec-14-14
 | | Annie K.: Heh, close: Batkhuyag Munguntuul |
|
Dec-14-14
 | | Domdaniel: But does Batkhuyag go to the movies? |
|
Dec-14-14
 | | Domdaniel: Calculation: it's 02.30am here. If I try to sleep now, I *may* be awake when later Klus arrive. Unlike the past few days, when I stayed up late and missed several klus in the morning. Can't win, of course. But one can try.

| Dec-14-14 | | Alien Math: Cheered, gained access to the advanced ESL course, thanks in part to <Domdaniel> and <Annie K.> for your support, Might break the basic simple English that I favor when tired or after a long day, Hope you can get enough rest <Domdaniel> the rest of the clues could be waiting |

Dec-15-14
 | | Annie K.: <Hanh> that's great news, congrats. :) <Dom> is there a problem with your phone? |

 | | Domdaniel: <A> Not a problem, rilly, just a lapse of memory. Forgot to turn the thing on. |

Dec-16-14
 | | Domdaniel: Congrats again to SwitchingQuylthulg, who can now retire for this year. <MAJ> has a supercomputer full of arcane DB search routines.
<kevinatcausa> is very good at puzzles.
But <Switch> seems to know every game of chess ever played... as well as being very good at puzzles and having some arcane search routines up his sleeve. Me, I'm just a slowcoach. |
|
Dec-16-14
 | | Domdaniel: <chancho> Thanks for the good wishes, but I'd need to get lucky -- I've currently got a slow laptop and net connection that takes forever to load a page, and regularly drops out completely. Useless in a race. And in the more cryptic klus, there are several very good solvers around. Still, never say die, and all that. |
|
Dec-16-14
 | | Domdaniel: Aargh! I thought I had klu #30 but my comp froze up. And BVer got there ahead of me. That, I think, is enough for today. Not much pickings in the last 24 hours. |
|
| Dec-17-14 | | MostlyAverageJoe: First, thanks for the kind note. I have a nice snapshot capturing about 2/3 of the banner, right where I slipped :-) This idea of staying in retirement is quite taxing. I never saw klu#30, but, out of curiosity, I tested how long it would take me to write a program to brute-force the solution (test unfinished, got called for dinner). Anyhow, about 7-10 minutes estimated. Solving by hand might be more efficient, except now I have the framework and replacing predicates is a breeze, so it will be really hard to refrain from grabbing another klu of this type, if it appears while I am online. |
|
Dec-17-14
 | | Domdaniel: Embarrassing. The cartoons in Klu #32 didn't load quickly enough, so I assumed that the heading "It's a small world" was the whole thing. And off I went, checking short games by the world, or played in the world open or world championships ... checking planets and moons ('small world' - it seems Arno Nickel has played both Pluto and Venus). And anagrams ... Soltis mall draw? Und so weiter. And so useless. |
|
Dec-17-14
 | | chancho: <It's a Small World> is a song and boat ride at Disney. (I was at Disneyland Paris in 2013.)
https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct... The idea that the cartoons were lined up as a Chinese Zodiac, and you had to solve it via math, pretty much spelled out for me that I was not going to solve the darn thing. |
|
Dec-17-14
 | | Domdaniel: Hmm. Apart from the credit to Jessica on the Korean number klu, I see no sign of puzzles submitted by kibitzers. Did nobody pass muster? Or are they saving the best wine for last? |
|
Dec-18-14
 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: Speak of the rabbit...
I submitted one klu, but I strongly suspect it won't be used. Too difficult :) Though seeing how fast most klus have been solved, and given <cg> would probably like to have some that stay up a little longer, perhaps that shouldn't have been a problem. |
|
Dec-18-14
 | | OhioChessFan: I was so put off the last 2 years I didn't bother to re-submit any. |

 | | WannaBe: How fast can rescuer get there before the poor bastard drowns?!!? Also, CG.com will send you an email about 3 days (for me, at least) before the clue appears. So don't give up hopes, yet. |
|
Dec-18-14
 | | OhioChessFan: 2 years ago, they did none after promising. Last year they did 1 of about 7 I submitted, without warning, and a bunch of poor hints that ruined the original clue, in my estimation. |

 | | WannaBe: <OCF> Don't quit/give up, it's a learning process for CG, too. =)) |
