| Apr-04-11 | | Lennonfan: This are my questions for you mr OCF,they've stumped many a christian(well their answers arne't very satisfactory anyway!)....how do you explain away carbon dating?? (Your gonna bat that one strait out the park now arne't you lol)These guys are scientists right?? And who actually wrote the bible?? And I dont see how someone who believes in a god or higher power, believe's he just made one little world when space and time is infinite...and then sent down one man here as his son,its all too far fetched for me....i find most theorys hard to understand, but buy into the evolution theory out of them all...
But in the words of john Lennon...whatever gets you through the night! |

 | | OhioChessFan: <Jess> I don't know what I think. I am not website savvy enough to know if they can set things up to sort of run themselves for a week or so. I lean toward that being the case. Anyway, I think things recently are entirely out of hand. I would be embarrrassed to have much of the current kibitzing on any site I ran. I am about at the point where I am considering dropping my premium membership. Since I never want to be a freeloader, that would mean leaving the site entirely. I have not emailed them, though I've considered it. But a business owner is free to run their ship as they see fit. |

 | | OhioChessFan: <how do you explain away carbon dating?? > Garbage in, garbage out. If you wish to know the garbage in I mean, check out the uniformitarian assumptions made regarding the dating. <(Your gonna bat that one strait out the park now arne't you lol)These guys are scientists right??> Yes.
< And who actually wrote the bible??> Various men moved by God to do so.
< And I dont see how someone who believes in a god or higher power, believe's he just made one little world when space and time is infinite...and then sent down one man here as his son,its all too far fetched for me....> What is man, that you are mindful of him? Yes, it is rather difficult in a big picture way to understand it. As for far fetched, to think that some raw materials that either came out of nothing or always existed, somehow coagulated and 20 gazillion years later created Mozart, Ayn Rand and Kasparov is beyond far fetched. <i find most theorys hard to understand, but buy into the evolution theory out of them all... But in the words of john Lennon...whatever gets you through the night!> I disagree with Lennon. Whatever gets you through the night might be a delusion. Whatever is true is what I want to believe. |

| Apr-04-11 | | Lennonfan: But unfortunately for religous people there is more proof for evolution than the bible.its taught in history classes..iv told you before i know a few men with faith, they're really nice friendly people, some of the nicest i know, and if its faith what makes them happy then im all for it..but id be deceiving myself!
And as far as the arc debate you were having with another user the other day,its in my opinion totally impossible to build a ship that could hold every species of animal, and keep them from doing what they do..more or less eating each other,as in the food chain!..even today a ship of that magnitude, and all the different places needed to kp the animals seperate etc..would be nigh on impossible!
And thats where i find it too far fetched...to believe an old man built a ship and saved every species all by himself,is like a fairy tale..i just cannot comprehend anything like that ever taking place..yet the only thing about evolution i cant understand is if we evolved from apes, why are they still here!! |

 | | OhioChessFan: < But unfortunately for religous people there is more proof for evolution than the bible.> What exactly constitutes "proof"?
<its taught in history classes..> Then it must be true. |
|
| Apr-04-11 | | Deus Ex Alekhina: <lennonfan> The theory of evolution does NOT say that men evolved from apes. (However, in the case of my very hairy neighbor, I'm not too sure) |
|
| Apr-04-11 | | cormier: well ... apes are done for now .... lol ..... |

| Apr-07-11 | | epistle: in some ways CHRISTians are the least religious people.. we don't believe in good-luck charms, in horoscope, in fate. we don't believe the world's promises or the world's curses....and even in good works. we have faith only in GOD that HE saved us in condemnation (Eph.2:8-9)....and promised the good life (Jer. 29:11) |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: heh
Quack
That was absolutely news I needed to hear- thanks <Ohio>. An yep I think that's right- bottom line, it's their site they can do what they want. Customers can do what they want too.
More than a little disturbing how many long time premium members have recently said they might leave the site. I hope the administrators noticed this, and take appropriate action. Such as looking up "customer service" in a first year Business Administration text book. This year- all told- I have in fact purchased more than fifteen years worth of premium memberships- for my three personal premium accounts, for an account meant to aid in the "Chessgames. vs. NN" games, and for friends who are short of cash. And I never, ever, thought I had wasted any of that money- Until this past month. |
|
Apr-08-11
 | | jessicafischerqueen: Oh and also- your recent "someone has to stop first" campaign did not fall on deaf ears- far from it. Well done on that. |
|
Apr-08-11
 | | OhioChessFan: Someone has to stop first is a lot easier to tell someone else than implement yourself. |
|
Apr-08-11
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Ohio> That's for sure. It's so difficult that those who actually accomplish this deed deserve the utmost respect. Such as the gentleman who said "Judge not, lest ye be judged." For example.
In fact, however, despite the modesty of your last post, I know that <cormier> and <hms123> and <Twinlark> and <playground player> and <me> have noted, and appreciated, your <actions>, not just words, as a "peace maker" at this website. |
|
| Apr-08-11 | | hms123: <OCF> Ok--I will 'fess up--I noticed it too and commented on it favorable to a certain <jessicafischerqueen>. What was I thinking? |

| Apr-11-11 | | morfishine: Glad you are weighing-in on the puzzles. Hey, have you played at chesscube.com? Its a blast! |

| Apr-16-11 | | chessmoron: <OCF> No opening books. But the operators of their engines can assist the computer with the moves for the 1st 8 moves then after the first 8, the computer will move on it's on. Don't know why I'm on ignore on <Switch> so I can't post there. |
|
Apr-17-11
 | | OhioChessFan: Okay, thanks. I was curious why Rybka would give up a Bishop for a Knight., since she loves her Bishops. I have never figured out why I am on ignore with someone. They have more than 10,000 posts, and I'm not aware there was ever a problem between us. I discovered it when I went to their forum to invite them to a moves prediction contest and the forum wouldn't allow me to post. No big deal really, but puzzling. I have 2 people right now not blocked, but I am not answering them. If I were to block them, I think I'd let them know. |
