<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

OhioChessFan: Yeah, I've been waiting for comments per the CD's. That's in my car. Although I am quite the high tech dinosaur. I'm on dialup, don't have a cell phone, have a 25 year old TV I rarely watch, no game system, no recording device beyond a broken VCR, ummm, other stuff I'm not remembering at the moment. I did have a post to the Yu Lie page about it. I'll search that out.

<OhioChessFan: <zarg: The world is not full of scientists that try to "prove" a theory.. > I was nodding right along with you, mostly, until this line. I'll try to work with the definitions you used, and say I think the world is full of scientists that don't try to disprove a theory and will offer endless variant hypotheses in lieu of considering the original theory is incorrect. >

i was waiting and now just checking (politely) if you still going to do this or you changed your mind , <OCF>

thanks !

There's my post per my lack of high tech credentials.

OhioChessFan: <qc> I was quite surprised when <zarg> ended up agreeing with me. If you want to address the matter, I'm game.
Oct-20-11  NakoSonorense: I remember reading that you were on dial-up and didn't own a cellphone, but using a CD player in 2011 seemed too extreme! Although now that I think about it it shouldn't be. I bought a CD player late in 2001, and then got an MP3/CD player a couple of years later. It wasn't until 2007 when I bought my first and only iPod so far. It's not that long ago, but it sure looks that way.
Oct-20-11  morfishine: <OhioChessFan> On your comment on Today's POTD <Well......I guess it was easy for everyone else. I am not shocked it was an Opening move I failed miserably at finding> Yes, but while you got the Wednesday POTD correctly with exquisite ease, I overlooked the rank-pin. I doubt if "everyone" found today's "easy", especially if one looked at how much time one used to finally arrive at the solution.
Oct-21-11  crawfb5: <nako> So, what do the kids put in the car these days? Are there in-dash MP3 players or what? I wouldn't know, as I drive a 13-year old vehicle.

I also have never had a cell phone, but that's mostly my aversion to phones in general. I rarely answer the house phone (it's rarely for me, so that works out). <Ohio> has me beaten on all the other tech counts. I have broadband cable (callerID shows up on the big plasma TV screen, so there's no need to rise from the couch to see who you should screen) bundled with phone service (take <that> Ma Bell and your demon offspring!). I have a wireless router and wireless printer server set up so we can take the laptops anywhere in the house. New technology should be useful to <me> if I'm going to adopt it. I feel very strongly about that. :-)

Oct-21-11  NakoSonorense: <crawfb5> There are a couple of options.

If your car stereo is old, you can get a cassette adapter, hook it to your iPod or MP3 player, and get tons of music (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Car-iPo...) This is what I do when I drive my dad's car, although music quality is not that great.

If your stereo has an auxiliary input, you can just get an audio cable and do the same (http://www.radioshack.com/product/i...) This is what I have in my car.

If your stereo only plays CDs and it doesn't have an auxiliary input, you could always get an FM transmitter and hijack a frequency on your car's radio to transmit music from your iPod/MP3 player (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/iPod-MP...) Personally I've never used this configuration, but I've been told that it works just fine.

I'm not familiar with stereos on new cars, but I guess the setup is much easier.

Like a weaned child on its mother's lap,
so is my soul within me.
