<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

  OhioChessFan: ** Final Recap **

We ended up with a divided leaderboard as nobody was able to take control in the final round. <WinKing> took home 2 golds, along with a silver. <Switch> had 1 gold and 3 silvers. <amw> held on for one gold and a bronze. <juan31> had the final gold along with a bronze. <chessmoron> finally showed up in the last round to earn 2 bronze, <lostemperor> quietly had 2 bronze and <Penguincw> had 1 bronze. <OhioChessFan> had nothing, and wasn't even close.

Thanks to everyone for playing. Thanks to <chessmoron> for running the show, <Switch> and <Win> and <tpstar> for being the starters, and congratulations to the winners.

juan31: Thanks to < chessmoron and OhioChessFan> congratulations to all.
Jul-23-16  wordfunph: <chessmoron> <OhioChessFan>, thanks for the nth time.

cheers to the winners!

Jul-23-16  Golden Executive: Thanks to <chessmoron> for running and <OhioChessFan> for hosting the show.!

Congratulations to all the medal winners, particularly to <WinKing> on his double-crown.!

See you guys next time.

Jul-24-16  WinKing: Thanks to <chessmoron> for running the contest & to <OhoChessFan> for hosting this contest!

Congratulations to all of those winning medals! It is always fun, for me, when I can go toe to toe with a rival like <Switch>. It is no secret that he is probably the most dangerous & formidable of all of the contestants here. Kudos <Switch> on picking up your record 38th overall gold medal(all prediction contests). I would also like to commend <juan31> & <alfamikewhiskey> for standing their ground & each of them taking home a gold medal for their trophy case. Well done guys!

Looking forward to the next contest. Are you planning on doing the 'Grand Chess Tour' Sinquefield Cup 2016 event <chessmoron>? If you feel like taking a break & just playing in a contest for a change I would be happy to run the Sinquefield Cup event. Just let me know. (Sinquefield runs from August 5th thru August 14th - 9 rounds - ten players)

Jul-24-16  WinKing: Thanks <GE>! :)

My fourth triple-silver in less than a year... still waiting for the dreaded quad-silver.

Jul-24-16  WinKing: <SwitchingQuylthulg: My fourth triple-silver in less than a year... still waiting for the dreaded quad-silver.>

I don't know if that(quad-silver) has ever been done <Switch>? I think I have gone the triple-silver route a few times myself. We would have to check with the in-house guru <Penguincw> to see for sure if it has ever been done.

Penguincw: As always, thanks to <chessmoron> and <OhioChessFan> for making this contest possible.

Congrats to <WinKing> for winning his 5th double crown, tying him with <cm> for most double crowns. He is also now tied with <cm> on the overall HOF (all 3 contests). This is also his 7th multiple crown. With these gold, he moves within one gold of passing <cm> on the all-time HOF.

Congrats to <Switch> for winning 4 medals, <alfamikewhiskey> and <juan31> for winning a gold, and congrats to the other medalists too.

Hope to see you soon (Sinquefield?).

< WK: [Quadruple Silver] >

Well, I guess it depends on what you mean by quadruple silver. You could mean winning 4 medals of silver or higher in 1 contest. If so, then that's done many times before, ex. ♔♔♔♘ by <Switch> in Bazna 2011: OhioChessFan chessforum (kibitz #6232).

However, if you mean winning 4 silvers in 1 contest, I'll have to see. But, there is a list of all medals won in this contest (starting with this post OhioChessFan chessforum (kibitz #14207)), and I'm sure it's just a matter of filtering and all.

Just briefly checking, I don't see such an instance, but I do see several triple silvers, including 3 by <Switch> in 1 fiscal year.

I do keep a list of gold medal leaders, like <YouRang>/<Golden Executive> does. I still need to update it for this tournament, and apparently some of my data doesn't match the list of medal winners, so I'll have to look into it.

User: Gold Medal Leaders

Jul-24-16  WinKing: <Penguincw: However, if you mean winning 4 silvers in 1 contest, I'll have to see.>

Yes, this is what I mean. Has anyone ever won just 4 straight silvers(♘♘♘♘) in one contest with no gold? I don't remember this ever happening as long as I have been playing. But maybe previously???

Jul-24-16  alfamikewhiskey: Thanks a lot for hosting - enjoyable :)

OhioChessFan: A quadruple silver would be tough. Of course, the tough one is the Bonus Ranker, where you have to score all your points without a first. Moves Ranker and #1 Ranker have quite a bit of overlap, and usually the same people will be near the same place in both. Moves+Bonus Ranker can be won by a strong Moves Ranker score and a mediocre Bonus score. So getting 3 of the 4 is pretty doable.

But adding Bonus Ranker into the mix jacks up the difficulty greatly. In this contest, <juan> won Bonus while having a very poor Bonus score, so bad he tied with me! To pull a gold in all 4 is just a major achievement. I can't decide if a quad silver is harder than a quad gold, although I suspect it is. For the gold, you can be way ahead of the field in one or more rankers, but for the silver, you're going to have a very narrow field of possible scores that hit just the right range.
