<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

Phony Benoni: If it's a Sam Loyd problem, the first move has to be totally ridiculous. Therefore, it must be 1.a8B.

Now 1...Ke8 2.Ke6 or 1...Kg8 2.Kg6 and the b-pawn queens next move with mate. The really funny line is 1...Kf8 2.b8Q+ Kf7 3.Bd5, with mate from the ridiculous bishop.

OhioChessFan: Per the puzzle of July 9, <Phony Benoni> has the correct answer. 1 a8B is the key move. Another puzzle: Amelung 1883

tpstar: <OhioChessFan> You asked about Kasparov's losses to players under 2600. This one meets the criteria = Huzman vs Kasparov, 2003 but I don't know about any others.

Oh, and Garry's Mom is Klara Kasparova. =)

tpstar: These 2 are from simultaneous exhibitions = Kasparov vs Wolff, 1988 & Kasparov vs W Runkel, 1985
Jul-16-06  Chess Classics: There's one where Garry lost to some off-beat first move against an 1900 player, I think it was like a3 or something.

Regards,
CC

Jul-16-06  Chess Classics: Actually, I think I was hallucinating. I check repertoire explorer with black for Kasparov and no such game could be found. Cheers mate!

CC

Jul-27-06  Lanceter: What about evolution did you want to discuss?
Jul-27-06  MrMelad: I don't know about you all, but I think evolution is a pretty proven process. The only thing I might consider is that there is more to the human race then evolution. Hence - it might not be the only reason mankind developed a strong brain.
Jul-27-06  Mendrys: True <MrMelad>. One can be spiritual and believe in evolution. Evolution is just an imperfect way us imperfect humans describe the very real biological processes we are able to observe. "God works in mysterious ways" indeed! Creationists who believe this forget about it when the story of creation comes up. They "know" word for word exactly when and how God created the universe.
Jul-27-06  MrMelad: I think evolution might be god's creation as well.
Jul-27-06  abacus: Can I join your discussion?

I agree that God could have made the universe anyway He wanted to. However, evolution and the creation account in the Book of Genesis has some contradictory views, e.g. in evolution, reptiles came first and evolved into birds, but in creation birds were created on day 5 and reptiles (land creatures) on day 6. So it's either creation or evolution.

Jul-27-06  chessmoron: <OhioChessFan: This puzzle is by Kubbel:> 1. Nc3+ -Kc2 2. Nd1-Kxd1 3. Kh8-f1=Q 4. Rg1-Qxg1 and stalemate.

Jul-28-06  MrMelad: <abacus> I do have some disagreement with you to the order of creation in the bible (reptiles can be seen as amphibians) but thats not what I want to say. While the existence of god might be attributed to a releigon, it is not neccessary to do that. There are engouh people that believed in god though they weren't Jews/Chritstians/Muslims.

The question should be - <if> god created the universe, does he still play a role in it, or did he create the laws (stage) and left himself no room to intervene?

OhioChessFan: <Lanceter> I realize that in such a format, no lenghty/deep discussions of the matter are possible. I will quickly suggest just one issue that comes to mind. How credible is it to think that both genders of all species just happened to evolve at the very same time? Evolutionists are in love with time, vast amounts of time. Why? Because the odds are so staggering against happening what has happened. It's like claiming that I rolled a pair of dice 100,000 times in a row and every time rolled 7. Sure, if you assume I had a billion years to do so, it just might be in the realm of statistical probability (I still deny that is the case with life evolving from non-life but this is just an analogy). But how in the world does the evolutionist suggest that their one in a thousand billion chance occur at the same time with both genders, for all species? Such is typical of the irrational principles of evolution.

OhioChessFan: <abacus> I would agree there is no possible reconciliation between the 2 claims.
Jul-28-06

OhioChessFan: Well done, <Chessmoron> One intersting variation is 3...Ke1 4. Rg2
Jul-28-06  MrMelad: <Ohio: it just might be in the realm of statistical probability> I agree with your post, and to strengthen your quoted claim, statistical probability can't asses or determine the chance of an inteligent life being formed. There are too many unknows like: what is life, does they have to be Carbon-Oxigen based, how many planets are there, what is inteligence, etc... There are two equations that deals with the question of what is the probabilty there are aliens. One predict an infinitisimalic result (almost 0%) and one produce almost 100%.
