<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

  OhioChessFan: ** Round 4 Recap **

In exciting news, <chessmoron> snuck into the playing hall a couple days late. When asked to explain himself, he claimed he had mistakenly ended up in a "Gentleman's Club" when he was looking for a "Chess Club". Photographic evidence of the honest mistake is here:

https://preview.redd.it/j9g0htc9si7...

When questioned why he didn't realize someone dressed like that wasn't the usual geek you'd find at a chess club, <cm> replied, "She wasn't so great. She only beat me 4 out of 10."

Meanwhile, back in our contest, the contest is a madhouse of different leaders. <Penguincw> leads in 3 Rankers, <DerDiemer> leads in 2 Rankers, <lostemperor> leads in 1, and <juan31> leads in 1. The only 0's left on the board are those of <lostemperor> who commented, "A virtue, patience is, business, your own, mind."

In a belated sop to <Penguincw>, we share this heartwarming account of <Pengo> vainly trying to stop <Switch> from retiring from the contest:

Switch: What are you doing here Pengo?
Pengo: I’m sorry Switch.
Switch: You don’t have to be. You better waddle back.
Pengo: Can I waddle behind you?
Switch: Afraid not, son.
Pengo: Please, why not?
Switch: I gotta be goin on.
Pengo: Why, Switch?
Switch: Moves Prediction has to be what it is, Pengo. I tried it and it was too easy for me.
Pengo: But I want you Switch.
Switch: Pengo, there’s no challenge in picking against a penguin. There’s no going back for me. Now you waddle on back to <OCF> Tell him everything’s all right.
Pengo: Your keyboard, it’s bloody. You’re hurt!
Switch: I’m all right, Pengo. You waddle back to <chessmoron> and you’ll make picks smart and good. And Pengo………take care.
Pengo: Bye, Switch.
Pengo: Winky would have never beaten you if you hadn’t let him!
Switch: Bye little Pengo.
Pengo: He’d have never even won a gold medal, would he, Switch?
Pengo: Annie K. has things for you to do!
Pengo: And so does Sargon. I know he does!
Pengo: Switch!
Pengo: Switccccchhhhhh!
Pengo: Come backkkkkkkkkkkk!

In other news, rumors abound that <offramp> disappeared for a round in hopes of finding the same "Chess Club" that <chessmoron> visited. <bubuli> apparently thinks the highest negative score in the ChessBookie Contest will win big prizes, and he's determined to get them. <OCF> is undergoing a mental evaluation after it was discovered he drove 20 miles on a snowy day to find a library with a copy of Shane to help him with this recap.

Will <chessmoron> stick with us? Is anyone stupid enough to challenge someone 7' 6" about missing rounds? Who's next to go looking for that elusive "Chess Club"? Who will jump out of the packed crowd of leaders to take control of the contest? Is <OCF> really crazy, or just stupid? Stay tuned for the answers to these and many other interesting questions. 9 rounds to go in our thrilling contest.

  Diademas: Tomorrow is rest day?
Jan-16-19  Count Wedgemore: <Diademas> Yes. Next round is on Friday.
Jan-16-19  WinKing: One small mistake <chessmoron>. <Diademas had:

<Giri - Anand 1/2 35>.

<DerDiemer> is the one who had <Giri - Anand 1/2 31>. Take a point away from <Diademas> & give a point to <DerDiemer>.

  OhioChessFan: ** Round 5 Recap **

The crowd roared its approval as our contestants had a total of 7 perfect 10's that round, led by <Penguincw> who had 2! In a very brief speech that lasted a little bit longer than the Fedoseev-Vidit game, <Penguin> explained his methodology and philosophy of prediction. He didn't seem to notice that by the end, the only people in the arena were the janitors sweeping the floors.

Fueled by those 10's, <Penguin> charged to the lead in 3 Rankers. <lostemperor> leads the other Ranker. We now have all the 0's off the board, so it's been a great contest for our predictors.

In other news, <wordfunph> has just been voted the President of the Kramnik Fan Club. Meanwhile, <Penguin> tried to confuse people about the rest days, mumbling something about "I think last year it was 4 or 5 days and they did the same this year or something", but fortunately, <Diademas> and <Count Wedgemore> stepped in to clear up the confusion. Earlier, <Diademas> had tried to submit 2 sets of picks, in an admirable attempt to game the system. Shockingly, <OCF> was alert for a change, and caught him and deleted one set of picks. It was still a great example of someone doing whatever it takes to win. It was noted that when <chessmoron> came from the "Chess Club", he immediately hit a perfect 10 in his first round. <cm> mentioned that he'd just had his picture taken with a perfect 10, so it fit. Most of our contestants will be heading to the “Chess Club” on this rest day to see if it helps their picks, and won’t really care much if it doesn’t.

Wanting to work on his game at the "Chess Club", <chessmoron> pleaded with the event organizers to call a rest day, and of course they complied. Will there be room in the "Chess Club" for all our contestants who are sure to show up? Will <chessmoron> claim dibs on the chessplayer he took a picture with? Can anyone stop <Penguincw> or will we have to listen to him brag for another 3 hours? Is it in the realm of possibility <Switch> might show up now and still win a gold medal? Stay tuned for the answers to these and many other penetrating questions. 9 rounds to go in our thrilling contest.
