<Format>:

[player]-[player] [result] [# of MOVES]

==4 Different Scoring Methods==

Standard Moves Ranker (1st place-Over[3pts], 1st place-Under [7pts], Exact [10pts])

Bonus Ranker (3rd place-Over[1pts],2nd place-Over[2pts],3rd place-Under [5pts], 2nd place-Under [6pts]

Standard Moves/Bonus Ranker [Add all to together]

1st place Ranker [how many 1st place you have in Standard Moves Ranker]

For example:

<Note: Participants 3, 4, and 5 are predicated on nobody scoring an exact as Participant 2 did. If someone hits an exact, the closest score under and over will score the points for second place.>

Actual Game: [player]-[player] 0-1 45

Participant 1: [player]-[player] 1/2 45
Participant 2: [player]-[player] 0-1 45
Participant 3: [player]-[player] 0-1 44
Participant 4: [player]-[player] 0-1 43
Participant 5: [player]-[player] 0-1 46

Participant 1: No points even though 45 is correct. Results must be correct. If Result is wrong and moves # is correct...you get no points whatsoever

Participant 2: 10 pts rewarded for correct Result/moves #

Participant 3: 7 pts rewarded for closest under (1st-Under) to 45 moves

Participant 4: 6 pts rewarded for the 2nd closest under (2nd-Under) to 45 moves.

Participant 5: 3 pts rewarded closest OVER(1st-OVER) to 45 moves.

Again, the description of Participant 3, 4, and 5 are based on there being no exact prediction as made by Participant 2.

<IF> there is an exact or an under closest, the highest scoring over participant will be 2nd over. The second closest over will be 3rd over. The <ONLY> time there will be a first over is if there is no exact or under winner.

  OhioChessFan: ** Round 3 Recap **

<juan31> continues to lead 3 Rankers, but his big leads are quickly shrinking. His hopes of being hired as a second were dashed when he told all the players he wouldn't be some waiter bringing them cheese sandwiches. <OhioChessFan> still leads 1 Ranker, and <Pengo> and <lostemperor> are tied for the lead in 1 with <juan>.

In other news, <Messiah> was sent for psychiatric evaluation when he kept insisting he was Alekhine. Asked to comment, he replied, "An online test said that's who I am, so who am I to argue?" Not to be outdone, <OCF> proudly announced he was Botvinnik. Meanwhile, <CC22> had his own identity crisis, as he insists his name is Nic, which he explains is short for Gabriel. It was uncertain at press time if he thinks he is de Firmian. Meanwhile, <lost emperor> continues to confuse everyone as his Yoda persona is currently identifying as Pikachu. Meanwhile, Nepo and Keymer were arguing over why Nepo got such a boring nickname from <Messiah>, while Keymer got such an insulting one.

Does anyone know who anyone is? Does anyone really care? So I can't imagine why we've all got enough time to cry. Alice in Wonderland makes more sense than this contest at the current time. Will anyone figure it out? Stay tuned for the answers or not to these penetrating questions. 6 rounds to go in our thrilling contest.

Penguincw: Hi <chessmoron>. It seems <Messiah>'s predictions were not counted this round. His scoring is as follows:

- Gukesh-Keymer 1/2-1/2 in 51, good for 1 pt

- Duda-Aronian 1/2-1/2 in 24, good for 6 pts

- Giri-Esipenko, 1/2-1/2 in 70, good for 1 pt

(luckily this doesn't affect other scoring, so it's an easier fix)

  OhioChessFan: ** Round 4 Recap **

We've had a huge shakeup in the standings the last couple of rounds. Currently, <lostemperor> leads 2 Rankers. <Pengo> leads 1 and is tied in 1. <OCF> is tied for the lead in 1.

In a shocking development, <chessmoron> got so mad with <Messiah's> strange nicknames for the players that he <didn't count any of Messiah's picks that round!> Just like last time with <Pengo>, <cm> decided to show everyone who's boss around here. Like usual, <Pengo> couldn't leave well enough alone, and had to blab all over the place what had happened. In response, <Messiah> publicly accused <cm> of cheating. In response to that, <cm> went to the tournament directors and demanded they stop the tournament for a day so that he could find <Messiah> and teach him the negative consquences of defamatory commentary upon a really swell 7' 6" guy. The TD's refused at first, but <cm> glared at them, and they agreed that a day off would be just wonderful for everyone involved. Word on the street is that <cm> is searching the world over like some kind of Carmen San Diego. It's rumored that <Messiah> is hoping to hide out with his new best friend, <faulty>.

Meanwhile, <CC22> annoyed all the tournament participants by trying to give them his analysis of some traps he discovered. He couldn't understand why none of the GM's wanted to try them in their next game. <juan31> has seen his early lead disappear because he's not getting all the inside information he used so well. His next plan is to bribe all the contestants with cigarettes to give him the inside scoop.

Will <chessmoron> calm down and let bygones be bygones? Will <Messiah> be able to save his own skin by hiding from <chessmoron>? Will <Pengo> quit telling <chessmoron> how to do his job? Can <juan> bribe his way back into gold medal position? We have a day to think about it as these and many other pertinent questions will be answered. 5 rounds to go in our exciting contest.

Feb-21-23  Messiah: Round 5 is underway. I am especially interested in the Aronian-Giri clash: I predict, if none of the players default the game, it can end either in 1-0 or 0-1, with some probability of a 1/2 - in this case it can be either a dull draw or a well-fought one. We'll see if my prediction comes true.
