 | | WannaBe: I think Tebow have these options:
1. Join A.C. Green and start a revival of religion.
2. Sign with the Saints, Tebow, Religion, Kneeling, Praying, Saints, next thing you know, we'll all forget about this Bounty Gate thing. And they'll be throwing Hail Marys on every down. Even First! 3. Arena Football.
4. Return to U. of Florida, get a Divinity Degree.
5. Convert to the Church of Latter-Day Saints, gain 4 more years of eligibility in the NCAA. 6. Join CG.com and bring peace & harmony to all the members, posts, and forums, or forumi... Ommmmmmmmmm. (I am going to fire my blog-writer, that's all I have to say about that.) |

 | | keypusher: <WannaBe: <keypusher> Gerrard declined pretty much all offers last year after being released.
Now he is willing to compete for a starting job?!
Sounds like desperation. :-)>
Yes, by him and the Fins. But having read a bit more, it looks like they signed him to a cheap one-year contract (because hey, you can't let Matt Moore get cocky just because no one else wants to play QB for Miami). So no real harm done. Apparently Tannehill is going to get snatched up by the Browns, but there are some good prospects in next year's draft, and the great thing about drafting someone is he pretty much has to play for you. Kind of amazing that a franchise in a place that offers all the temptations of the flesh and has no state income tax to boot can't attract talent. Who knew that football players were such ascetics? |

 | | WannaBe: <keypusher> All that flesh?! You know they are retirees, right?!?! :-)) On a separate note, here is one for our gracious host, that lets us to rib each other, and shows great sportsmenship, an eye in the storm that is swirling around us, Mr. <Phony Benoni> : http://espn.go.com/mlb/spring2012/s... Goalies for the RedWings are fearing for their jobs. |

 | | WannaBe: Rollie Massimino is now coaching NAIA Division II ?!?!?! http://espn.go.com/chicago/ncb/stor... |
|
Mar-20-12
 | | Phony Benoni: Rollie Massimimo seems like one of those guys who couldn't live without coaching. Besides, he has to do something when not serving as a stunt double for Danny DeVito. |
|
| Mar-20-12 | | Jim Bartle: Massimino made a mistake leaving Villanova for UNLV. He seemed to be beloved at Villanova, especially having win an NCAA title, and misjudged the situation in Las Vegas. He probably thought the attraction was the team and the city, where really it was Tarkanian and his shenanigans. So he didn't win there, didn't even make the tournament, and sort of faded away. |

 | | Phony Benoni: <WannaBe> It's easy to be a gracious host when the guests are gracious. Now that we've got the love and goodwill out of the way, it's time to start moaning. Word is that the grounder which hit Miguera Cabrera in the face fractured a small bone underneath his right eye. There should be no permanent damage or vision loss, but he'll miss the rest of spring training. Good news is that it wasn't worse, and he probably won't be out of any regular season games. The bad news is that The Great Third Base Experiment hits a snag; he obviously needed all the practice he could get. However, it wasn't his inexperience that did it. He was going to field the ball to his lower left when it took a bad hop and hit him underneath the right eye. Brooks Robinson wouldn't have gotten it either, but it might have missed him since he isn't as wide as Cabrera. |
|
| Mar-20-12 | | Jim Bartle: I'm surprised things like this don't happen more often. Hard hit balls are tough to handle even without a bad bounce. Third basemen and first basemen (most of them) are amazing at picking up those hot shots. |
|
Mar-20-12
 | | WannaBe: That's why it's called the hot corner...
Maybe he can have/wear mask, like Kobe... Or C. Osgood. |

 | | WannaBe: News: P. Manning finalizes deal with Denver.
Reaction: RBs & WRs are actually practicing catching/tipping drills, anticipating being hit, and most of all, how to spike the football once they reach the end-zone. You watch, the first guy that 'dunks' over the goal post, is gonna pull a hammy. The first guy that tries to jump into the stand, a la Mile-High Leap (MHL) is gonna pull a hammy, that guy who is gonna spike the football? He's gonna throw his shoulders out, (Yes, both! I don't know how, but BOTH!!) He will require Tommy John surgery, out for the season. |

 | | WannaBe: Worth reading, it's before my time, and I don't know (all) the characters involved, but I'm quite sure, it's still going on... http://espn.go.com/colleges/alabama... |

 | | WannaBe: Tebow got traded to the Jets, now I wonder where Mark Sanchez is going, this domino effect is (quite) fun to keep track of... Maybe the Raiders will sign Sanchez, then we'll have 2 ex-USC QBs. =) |

 | | WannaBe: Sean Payton suspended, one year!!! http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?sl... |
|
Mar-21-12
 | | Phony Benoni: I cannot understand the Tebow move. It looks like a bad deal for Denver (two low-range draft picks?), a bad deal for the Jets (just signed Sanchez long-range), and I still don't think it's a good deal for Tebow. My guess is that the Broncos dealt Tebow to:(a) get rid of the quarterback controversey; (b) he doesn't fit with John Elway. Since I seem to have such a consistent track record on predictions, I'll say that neither Denver nor the Jets will win a playoff game next season. (I'd say they wouldn't make the play-offs, but it's almost impossible for Denver not to make the play-offs in that division.) |
|
Mar-21-12
 | | WannaBe: Hold allllll tickets, there is an enquiry regarding the Bronco-Jets trade. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-s... |
|
| Mar-21-12 | | Jim Bartle: Tebow can be a folk hero in NY, playing different positions, coming in to run the "Wildcat" at key moments. No way he'll be the starting quarterback. |
|
| Mar-21-12 | | Jim Bartle: I hear another part of the punishment of the Saints is they will be called the Sinners for the 2013 season. |

 | | WannaBe: Coke to place ads with J. Lin in Chinese around Madison Square Garden: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_y... How do you say: "Carmelo, pass me the ball when you are double-teamed" in Chinese? |
|
| Mar-21-12 | | Jim Bartle: Nice one, Wannabe. As a Californian do you happen to remember a Democratic prankster named Dick Tuck who used to torment Nixon in the 50s and 60s? One time Nixon was campaigning in LA's Chinatown in front of a huge banner written in Chinese. Turned out Tuck had put it there and it read, "What about the Hughes loan?", in reference to a suspicious loan Howard Hughes had made to Nixon's brother. My favortie "Tuck" was much simpler. Nixon was doing a whistlestop tour, speaking from the balcony at the end of a train. Tuck dressed up as a railroad employee, walked in front of the engine, and signaled the engineer to pull out of the station. So Nixon rode away in mid-speech. |

 | | WannaBe: <JB> Nice ones... but unfortunately I know nothing about this D. Tuck guy. I was born early 70s, plus I did not come to the States until early 80s. Some of my earliest memories are Raiders beating Redskins, and '84 Olympics in LA. |

 | | WannaBe: Trade finalized, T.T. is now a NY Jets. Sanchez watch have now begun. |
|
| Mar-21-12 | | Jim Bartle: If we're talking about USC quarterbacks, what about Todd Marinovich, who played two years (freshman and sophomore), then was drafted in the first round by the Raiders. He'd been raised since he was born to be a quarterback, his entire life controlled by his father (a former USC lineman) to make Todd an NFL quarterback. Once in the NFL, he sort of collapsed and starting doing all the irresponsible things he should have got out of his system as a teenager, but never could. |
