My son was Daniel Freeman, one of the founders and trail blazers of this remarkable site, who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on July 24th , 2018. (My actual surname is not Freeman.)

OhioChessFan: <Susan: <ocf> that was a general statement reinforcing the guidelines. Not a personal affront. >

There. You. Go. And likewise my reference to "The Stalinists" that was deleted. To review, your admin account took the time and trouble to delete a post that you have just conceded was not a personal affront, which is the very rationale proposed by the admin to delete it! It ain't a fair fight, when someone has all the weapons, but I'm still winning this little battle of wits, big time.

<And btw. Zanzibar is not on the board of directors and never was.>

Good.

<All is well.>

I guess we'll see.

<It is too bad this nonsense distracts from the chess in Chessgames.>

Yeah, the snot-nosed tactic stuff has to stop.

< We need a moratorium on negativity.>

Good. Start with the cg.c account.

<These groundless speculations aren’t much fun. It is all good.>

Okay.

Yes or no. Do you approve of this post?

Susan Freeman: Not sure which one you are referring to. It was most likely out of place where it was posted, I agree. I am sorry if you took anything as intentionally directed to you. I need to initial and approve all the memos in the future. Sargon is free to do the technical things that he is brilliant at doing , starting today. And the group of warm fuzzies and border patrol are gathering to discuss our philosophy and boundaries in honor of my late son’s wishes. We will have a group hug and get going. Actually, a lot of these posts are entertaining, but we don’t want any entertainment at another’s expense. My son wasn’t like that. I raised him better. Nobody knows his philosophy more than Mother 😊
Oct-15-18  Robed.Bishop: <Susan Freeman> Thank you for responding to <OCF's> inquiry and the manner of your response. Clarification from the top is always useful.

I applaud your goal of having a peaceful site devoted to chess, but disagreements are going to arise and the manner in which management handles these disagreements matters. We as users should not feel we are treading on thin ice as we enjoy the site's many features, including our discussions.

Having said that, I acknowledge that you are free to run the site as you see fit and that my two cents is worth just that, two cents.

Oct-15-18  thegoodanarchist: <OhioChessFan: I think 2 weeks is sufficient. If you make it a month, that'll just be 2 more weeks of discussing whether RJF was the best player ever.>

A point in favor of my idea, if you ask me...

But to each his own...

Oct-15-18  thegoodanarchist: < Robed.Bishop: ... my two cents is worth just that, two cents.>

huh HAH! I only offered a penny for his thoughts! I scammed him out of the other penny!

Oct-15-18  zanzibar: <Robed.Bishop>... I think <chessgames.com> has it just about right...

<even a blind man with a cane can see it>

.

Oct-16-18  Robed.Bishop: <tga> I think you should return my penny. If you look at my earlier comment regarding opening the championship page early, I posted an opening for someone to comment on whether Fischer was the greatest player ever. Alas, no one took the bait.

Hmm, maybe you owe me two pennies...

Oct-16-18  Robed.Bishop: <Zanzibar> That doesn’t surprise me.
Oct-16-18  zanzibar: <R.B> - of course it doesn't.
Oct-17-18  Robed.Bishop: <tga> Pleasure doing business with you!
Oct-18-18  thegoodanarchist: < Robed.Bishop> replied <<tga> I think you should return my penny...

Hmm, maybe you owe me two pennies...>

He did so on this very page - just scroll up and see.

So I replied:

<Double your money back! Four cents are in the mail and on their way.>

And I wrote that on <This> page.

To which <RB> replied (on this page) <<tga> Pleasure doing business with you!> You can scroll up and see this one too.

This is quite a strange case, such as I've never before encountered in the hallowed halls of cg.com. A very strange case indeed!

Why?

Because now it seems that my last reply to <RB> has been relocated to the KC somehow:

Kibitzer's Café (kibitz #240961)

Yet <RB>'s reply remains here in this forum. Hmmm, some kind of shenanigans going on....

By a recently available good soul, I'm sure!

Oct-19-18  zanzibar: <Susan> here's a link to a blog post with some of Daniel's photographs from his Pine Crest days:

https://zanchess.wordpress.com/2018...

I also have some from his college days, but they're on a different computer than the one I'm using now. I'll post a quick update when I get them uploaded.

Susan Freeman: <Zanzibar> Thank you soo much. What a good snoop you are! And my favorite friend of his...Robert Fast. Well one of them. He slept over a lot at the beach condo.Great sense of humor! sigh
Oct-20-18  WinKing: Hey 'Snoops' good job locating those great photos of Daniel. :) Brings back memories of when I played for my school. The good old days.

<Susan Freeman> I only got to know Daniel after I became a member here. I never had the pleasure of knowing him in his earlier years.

Oct-24-18  zanzibar: <Susan> maybe I'm not as good a Zoop as you say, as I only found one photo of Daniel from his Georgia Tech days(*).

It was good to see the boys liked to do their wash regularly though!

(*) I thought I had another, but probably not.

Susan Freeman: Please do Z !
Oct-26-18  zanzibar: OK, it's a nonsense blurb from a frat newsletter (~1991), found at the bottom here:

https://zanchess.wordpress.com/2018...

Did you know any of his frat brothers?
